Last weekend saw one of the biggest brawls to happen in Eve since the Bloodbath of B-R5RB– but it wasn’t over Sovereignty, or a Moon, not even an accidentally jumped Titan. It was all over the community coming together to support a number of EVE Based Charities.
The charities:
Plex For Good supporting the Icelandic Red Cross
Best of Us – A community support group for current or past military personnel.
Care 4 Kids – A support group for sick children and allow them to play EVE Online during difficult times.
The Event was organised by the team at Evil At Work which is the umbrella corporation behind the Eve video community site EOC.tv to celebrate the imminent launch of their newly updates site from V1 Beta to V2.
The event mainly took place in the Black Rise system of Martoh with secondary fights spilling into surrounding systems and drew approximately 4,400 players from all over Eve. Guest FC’s took out the 750 people who signed up directly to participate in the organised fleet, as well as a number of other groups showed up including – Brave, Brave Collective, Pandemic Horde, Project.Mayhem, Spectre Fleet, TEST, The-Culture, Triumvirate, Waffles, etc. An estimated 1,800 ships were destroyed worth a staggering 480 billion ISK.
The death toll not only included the originally planned sacrifice of a Leviathan piloted by General Stargazer, but a surprise second titan piloted by Nashira Naos.
I asked the organisers James, TehJackal and Adarics for some feedback on the event:-
What an awesome evening! The EOC.TV Rumble event was a huge success! We would like to everyone who attended and donated to the event, we raised tons, along with lots and lots of happy pilots seeing not one titan but two for the first time.
We would also like to thank all the Fleet Commanders who very generously took time to help organise the event and take out the fleets.
Also a HUGE shout out to CCP Logibro, CCP Guard, CCP Mimic & All of the others at CCP who helped us make rumble a success.
We are now busy working out the prize winners for the event. But as you can imagine, sorting through all those kill-mails is a huge task! So we hope to make a final announcement on that and the total amount raised over the next few days. The information will be posted on the newly updated EOC.tv site, which if all goes to plan, will be on Friday morning.
If you still want to donate to the charities you can do so by sending ISK to the EOC.TV corporation.
The event rolled on for a number of hours, a lot of it, despite preparations CCP servers were almost permanently in heavy Time Dilation which the EOC team made fun of in a video released today.
The team at Evil At Work were again very pleased with how the event turned out and are planning to organise more events in the future.
