AAA CEO update

March 25, 2014

March has been an interesting month for -A-. Their largest corp, Kenshin., departed the alliance, DARKNESS. swapped sides, -DD- disbanded, and their allies began a steady withdraw to Stain.

Recently however, -A- has seen an influx in new corporations from their feeder alliance, Against ALL Anomalies. However, with their allies deserting them and N3 still advancing towards Catch old issues, like fleet participation, seem to plague the alliance:
[ 2014.03.24 22:57:03 ] metalravenous > has anyone tried to negotiate something with pl and n3 so we can keep catch like other alliances have?
[ 2014.03.24 22:57:27 ] Commander Starscream > nope
[ 2014.03.24 22:57:49 ] M’Hurl Torps > lol
[ 2014.03.24 22:57:55 ] metalravenous > i dotn understand why of every other alliance in the coalition was smart enough to have done so why _A_ hasnt
[ 2014.03.24 22:58:34 ] Commander Starscream > lol we get kicke dout all the carebears who dont pvp will leave and we can restart
[ 2014.03.24 22:58:35 ] M’Hurl Torps > because they are carebears
[ 2014.03.24 22:59:00 ] M’Hurl Torps > I admit, having space is nice for income
[ 2014.03.24 22:59:20 ] M’Hurl Torps > but PL and NC. have an obsession for -A-
[ 2014.03.24 22:59:33 ] metalravenous > so reason for no negotiation is because _A_ didnt want that space anyways?
[ 2014.03.24 22:59:36 ] Commander Starscream > 80% of them are -a-
[ 2014.03.24 22:59:42 ] M’Hurl Torps > I know
[ 2014.03.24 22:59:55 ] Commander Starscream > -a- is an alliance that has sov not an alliance that needs sov
[ 2014.03.24 23:00:24 ] metalravenous > i guess that works out great since they cant seem to hold it anyways
[ 2014.03.24 23:00:38 ] M’Hurl Torps > they all left with bad feelings, and they still have them even now when current -A- doesn’t look like old -A-
[ 2014.03.24 23:00:45 ] M’Hurl Torps > hence obsession
[ 2014.03.24 23:00:47 ] Commander Starscream > i know
[ 2014.03.24 23:00:56 ] Commander Starscream > they just dont like -a- plain and simple
[ 2014.03.24 23:01:32 ] metalravenous > tbh
[ 2014.03.24 23:01:38 ] Daroch Greumach > Isn’t metalravenous in -A- ….? why does he always use “they” when talking about himself?
[ 2014.03.24 23:01:55 ] metalravenous > sounds like losers just trying to apply logic to their failure
[ 2014.03.24 23:07:52 ] metalravenous > well
[ 2014.03.24 23:07:56 ] metalravenous > anyways
[ 2014.03.24 23:08:09 ] metalravenous > i bet if someone offered a deal with pl and n3 they would take it
[ 2014.03.24 23:08:35 ] metalravenous > leadership would probably be allowed to control all of catch
[ 2014.03.24 23:08:42 ] Duo ZeroSeven > would it really be that bad?
[ 2014.03.24 23:08:50 ] Duo ZeroSeven > (taking the deal)
[ 2014.03.24 23:08:56 ] metalravenous > but basically mbrs and renter corp would probab,ly be farmed for kills
[ 2014.03.24 23:08:58 ] RO ALEXANDER > deal is impossible
[ 2014.03.24 23:09:11 ] RO ALEXANDER > the systems in catche are allready rented out
[ 2014.03.24 23:09:12 ] metalravenous > i suspect that was already offered
[ 2014.03.24 23:09:17 ] metalravenous > but pride got in the way
[ 2014.03.24 23:10:49 ] metalravenous > id be willing to be pl/n3 underling if they wanted to farm people for kills <--- _A_ ncdot pets anyone? [ 2014.03.24 23:11:23 ] RO ALEXANDER > there would be a distinct lack of titans on the ‘other side’ :3
[ 2014.03.24 23:16:04 ] Commander Starscream > lol
[ 2014.03.24 23:16:20 ] metalravenous > i dont think there is anything wrong with recognizing and accepting your natural limitations
[ 2014.03.24 23:16:48 ] metalravenous > alliance seems to recognize it isnt capable of holding sov
[ 2014.03.24 23:17:21 ] metalravenous > onyl shame would be not doing something aboot it
[ 2014.03.24 23:18:16 ] RO ALEXANDER > well of course we can’t hold all that sov with 60 people online
[ 2014.03.24 23:18:30 ] Tineoidea Asanari > and with only 25 people in fleet
[ 2014.03.24 23:18:31 ] RO ALEXANDER > it’s a shit-ton of systems
[ 2014.03.24 23:18:52 ] metalravenous > right
[ 2014.03.24 23:18:58 ] RO ALEXANDER > most of which are empty and not worth the TCU they need to be claimed
[ 2014.03.24 23:18:59 ] metalravenous > so begging people to get into fleet hasnt worked
[ 2014.03.24 23:19:14 ] metalravenous > maybe giving n3 and pl your lunch money might help
[ 2014.03.24 23:19:26 ] M’Hurl Torps > fuck em
[ 2014.03.24 23:19:29 ] Tineoidea Asanari > metalravenous how would you encourage people to get in fleet?
[ 2014.03.24 23:19:43 ] metalravenous > how would i know i dont even undock
Along with apparent issues regarding their military capacity to wage war, AAA members also seem to be embittered by Kenshin., the aforementioned largest corporation in -A-, being granted by a trial by Vince Draken. *Post seen below edited for grammar*
In true “GOTTA CATCH EM ALL STYLE”

It has been put to a vote by leadership and we all agree we must grow. That being said, the level of quality in Eve today isn’t what it was when some of you joined the game. Over time we have taken corps and made some good of them. Today is no different we are giving a 60 day trial to http://evemaps.dotlan.net/corp/Kenshin.

Please welcome them as normal and feel free to shit on them as you would with any other corp, they have permission to shit back on you. And, see if we can’t be a happy family if not they will be going on their merry way after 60 days!

Usual shit applies watch for shit heads who bring wrong ships, watch for them recruiting without using the forums and taking shit members you know the drill folks that being said…….

WELCOME KENSHIN

The response to this now rather public post in -A- is characterized as follows:
[81DIV] garandras
As some of you aware Vlade took his band of misfits and left -A- siting a burnout.
Some of us were skeptical about this, but were told not to shoot at them as they left or popped their heads into our systems >_>

http://evemaps.dotlan.net/corp/Kenshin./alliances

Turns out Vlade is just as much of a coward as -DD- and decided to switch sides.
With any luck Vlade will FC for them and give us some easy kills
and

+1, may they die a slow death… traitors!
And finally, AAA CEO Lahari, as if to address all the concerns of his pilots and circumstances facing his alliance, released the following speech to his alliance:
I had a decent conversation in alliance chat today regarding fleet numbers and participation. Here are some of the points that were covered.

Lack of FCs for fleets:
Lack of a decent market:
Feelings of the “DoomHammer” coming to smite us all:
Tired of the SOV war:
Too many people ratting rather than fleeting up:
No real sense of direction or purpose coming from leadership:
Corps doing their own thing due to no real sense of coordination:
Lack of Teamspeak presence:
Incentives and punishments due to activity:

These are all very good points. Lets go over some of the answers given.

Currently we have a shortage of Mainline FCs. This is not an issue unique to -A- currently. Many FCs from all sides have been burnt out by the sov grind and long war. Currently we have a handful of Jr FCs attempting to fill the vacuum. However, we need more active and interesting FCs to help form more fun fleets. Roams, Camps etc need to start happening more and more. Pilots also need to commit to participating in fleets as often as possible.

The market has suffered greatly due to some corps that were major Market seeders either losing active numbers or leaving the alliance all together. We are working on rebuilding the markets with new pilots. Those able and willing to help should speak up.

The “Doomhammer” is due to hit Catch eventually. However, right now this is not about defending Catch as it is about fleeting up and finding the fun in eve fights. There aren’t any real blobs to bee seen, even our enemy seems to have toned back aggression in Catch to deal with other things. While this is not likely to last, it is a great opportunity to form smaller fun gang fleets and allow new FCs to learn and gain experience in fleet fights. We should not be sitting around for the eventual fall of Catch (we’ve been waiting two weeks now) but we should be taking advantage of this environment.

Everyone is tired of the SOV war. It has been six months for many of us and we are just sick of it. Our enemy is tired of it, our allies are tired of it. And who can blame anyone. Our current situation in Catch is resulting in minimal SOV warfare. The opportunity to have good fights is here. PL is in Curse along with some others, BNI is around, even CVA can muster a good fleet for some fun. Less blobs and less SOV war I feel is what all of us need.

I understand that people need to rat in order to afford ships to fly for fun fleets. However, these guys need to actually join fleets, not just rat. Find a proper balance and get into fleets.

There does seem to be a vast disconnect between what I personally view as what our purpose and direction is and what the common pilot feels is our agenda. This means there is a vacuum in information passage between me, the corp leaders and the pilots. Corporate leaders need to do more to talk with me regarding these objectives and need to pass that information down to the common pilot. Let me clarify our current position for everyone.

We restaged from Immensea to F4R2 in order to provide an active defense of Catch. DARK. and some others were supposed to come join us so F4R2 was chosen as it was close to the JBs that lead to Northern Catch where BNI and friends were hitting us. We went to F4R2, DARK. decided to join N3, Studs 2.0 never showed up, they instead sold their space to N3 and are said to be relocating to Stain. With these changes in allegiance and activity, I do not feel with our small numbers we can actually defend Catch. However, we can still make the SOV grind a terrible experience for whoever comes, and it does provide us with targets to fight. The purpose of this staging is to provide a chance for corps to prepare themselves for an eventual fall back to Stain, allow fleet numbers to stabilize and FCs to develop. How corps perform here will help me determine who will be allowed to remain with -A- if/when we eventually fall back to Stain. This is not some delusional grande last stand, but an opportunity for us to find some sense of momentum and identity. We simply will not hand over Catch. If someone wants it, they will have to grind every system.

I do not have an issue with corps doing their own thing in order to maintain levels of activity. However, I feel as an alliance we would benefit more if more corps would work together to improve activity and fleet numbers. The FCs running these ops should expand their player base and step up as a possible alliance roaming or other fun fleet FC type. Anyone willing to try out alliance level small gang or larger fleet FCing please contact Shadowandlight or myself and we can get you into the FC program.

It was mentioned that not enough pilots are active and signed into our new Teamspeak server. It was suggested that increasing this presence allows for more and more pilots to socialize and form up spontaneous fleets. I agree and I believe everyone should make every effort to populate the alliance teamspeak.

Finally a lot of chatter went on regarding punishments and incentives for corps and pilots in relation to participation levels. Some have indicated they’d like to see some form of taxation on corps for lacking numbers. I personally do not support this measure as 1. it makes a shitty situation on a corp level even more shitty. 2. There are instances where there really isn’t anything to tax a corp on. I am more supportive of positive reward such as programs to pay some reward to top pilots, top corps in activity. Details of what kinds of rewards are still open for discussion. However, before I dispense with any type of accolade or reward, I will want to see something worth rewarding. The ultimate consequence is of course removal from -A- due to no activity. I am willing to work with you if your are able to show you are willing to work to improve.

In Closing. I have asked the normal grunt, the typical pilot of -a- to commit themselves to improving their own fleet participation. To encourage others in their corps to step up and help bring our numbers back to respectable levels in fleets. I have asked that would be FCs step up and help produce fun, regular fleets. I expressed to the alliance membership present that in order for -A- to thrive we need pilots willing to undock and help our fledgling FCs gain the needed experience. The count on the killboard is far more important to me than the number of SOV systems we hold. SOV is nice, we use it while we have it, but pvp is even better.

Feel free to add to this discussion below. Keep the comments civil. Share your ideas on how to improve fleet numbers, what kind of fun fleets you’d like to see. Provide feedback as this is your alliance. What can I do to help you find your urge to kill again?

An alliance greatness is not measured in how we do when things are going our way. It’s measured in how we perform when things are their most challenging. How do you want to be measured now?
