Yesterday, 3 new Faction Capitals appeared on the Sisi Test Server.
At present, nothing is guaranteed about these ships, not even the name and all the facts and figures listed below are subject to change by CCP without warning.
Couple of interesting things about these which jumped out at me …
Firstly, they all receive various hull bonuses linked to your Caldari and Gallente Carrier/Dreadnought/Titan skill however the Pre-requisites only list the relevant Caldari skill to be able to fly them. Wether this is an error on CCP’s part or if they’re doing something different from the previous Faction Capitals remains to be seen.
Secondly, the Dreadnought and the Titan have Fighter Bays! … Yes, you did read that correctly!!
Now, the ships themselves …

So how do they compare to their standard Caldari brethren? … Let’s look at the Dreadnought first.
When comparing the hull bonus’, there’s little difference. The Gurista’s Caiman has the same racial skill bonus’ as the Phoenix just spread across the 2 races. It doesn’t however have the Phoenix’s bonus to reload time. What it does have however is a greatly increased tank. Looking at the shield (because who cares about armour & structure on a Phoenix?) the Caiman has a base Shield HP of 150,000 compared to the 104,200. That’s almost a third more Shield HP before the addition of any modules. They both have the same module layout and resist profile, the Caiman has only a marginally larger Capacitor. I think the Ultimate Selling Point of the Caiman is the Fighter Bay. Anyone who’s flown a Phoenix know’s how horrible the damage application is against anything that moves, having a Squadron of Light Fighters may allow for improved application against small and/or fast moving targets.
Next let’s have a look at the Force Auxiliary.
Firstly, the Loggerhead gains a mid slot over the Caldari Minokawa, regardless of if you use this for an additional Shield module or another Capacitor Booster, this on top of the additional 45,000 increased base Shield HP will be sure to increase the already formidable tank of the Minokawa. The bonus’ however of the Loggerhead seem rather limited in comparison to the Mino. It doesn’t have the bonus to Remote Capacitor Transmitter, doesn’t have the bonus to Capacitor Pool and also doesn’t have the bonus to Command Bursts. Is this to be improved upon by CCP? – I hope so because as it stands at the moment the additional mid slot and the larger buffer are the only things which make this new ship appealing.
Finally onto the Titan.
The Leviathan and the Komodo have the same slot layouts although I spotted that the Komodo has 50 less Calibration Points. Similar to the Dreadnought there are a couple of things which leap out at me. Firstly, the addition of the Fighter Bay with 2 tubes, one of them being able to launch Heavy Fighters. Most noticably though is the 300,000 HP Shield HP bonus. Since more folks use armour capitals these days than shield, will this fearsome increase in tank convice more folks to switch to Shield?
As stated at the top, these ships have only very recently been added to Sisi and are subject to change from CCP without notice.
