CSM12 – Candidates Announced

CSM11’s term is coming to a close and CSM12 candidates have been busy campaigning, promoting their platforms and reaching out to prospective voters. Applications were submitted and the final list of official candidates was announced yesterday.

But what is the CSM? The Council of Stellar Management (aka CSM) is a player advocacy group, consisting of 10 members democratically elected by the players to advise and assist CCP in the continuous development of EVE. The CSM brings focused, structured feedback from the community to CCP and represents its views and interests. The role of a CSM member is to represent the player community in the development of EVE Online. As elected representatives, the CSM will have clear communication paths with CCP and a chance to influence the development of EVE Online.

This year there are a total of 64 candidates (up from the 53 that applied last year) who have been accepted following the application period that ended on February the 17th. The list of candidates is as follow:

With less than 4 days left to go through and pick out candidates to vote for the electorate has a lot to consider. So where can you go to find out more information on these candidates to help you pick your ideal candidates?

First and foremost is the EVE Online CSM Candidate section on the EVE Online community website which contains a full list of all candidates.

You can also find ongoing discussions on the EVE Online forum CSM Campaigns section. This should be the first stop for anyone looking to dive deeper into any potential candidates platform. It also provides a place where you can directly comment and question any particular candidate.

If however, you are looking for something to listen to on your daily commute Matterall, ex-EN24 writer and now Creative Director at the Imperium News is recording an ongoing series of interviews which are currently being published to soundcloud. With 23 recordings down there are still a lot more interviews to come.

But Matterall isn’t the only one putting out CSM related audio content, Crossing Zebra’s has also been extraordinarily busy putting out content from not just one source, but three! All of which can be found in their podcast section. But the two main CSM focused shows have been as follows:

Veteran podcaster and EVE Online commentator Ashterothi has completed a series of interviews. To date he has interviewed the following candidates:

• Jonn Duune
• Jin’Taan
• Roedyn
• Toxic Yaken

Sticking with the audio format but of a more round robin style show Jeffraider has hosted a series of debates putting a number of CSM candidates on coms and asking them a series of questions which can be found on Crossing Zebras. The debates have been broken down into three parts;

• Sullen Decimus, Steve Ronuken, Carbon Alabel, Roedyn, Kalen Tsero
• Jonatan Reed, Noobman, Xenuria, White 0rchid, commander aze
• Suitonia, Killah Bee, rhiload Feron-drake, Dancul1001, Toxic Yaken

EVE Community site EVE_NT is also running its annual written CSM series where all the announced CSM candidates have been invited to respond to a template questionnaire. The responses are being published almost as fast as they are coming in with 7 published since the 1st.

But this series of sources only just scratches the surface when it comes to CSM relate content currently out there in the wider EVE Media sphere and new information is being published on a daily basis.
