Many newer players will be elated to hear that YouTuber Mocrean Adrian has produced a series of fascinating videos giving invaluable advice to capsuleers facing the rigors of everyday life in the pod. For the last two years I have struggled through this game, its famously difficult learning curve throwing walls in my face every way that I turned, but this morning that all changed when I watched everything that Mocrean has ever created. I now find myself breezing through the game, once-difficult challenges becoming mere bumps in my path to the domination of the Eve Universe.
Learning Curve Survivor. Fortunately, she’s immortal.
Many of the things that the brilliant Mocrean Adrian has taught me about are things that most capsuleers have simply never thought about. While I have spent my time thinking about things like tracking and signature radius, it is clear that he has been thinking about the real issues. The simple problem of sunburn warranted a masterful 10 minute video providing comprehensive guidelines on how to avoid how to avoid it while flying through the galaxy. Let’s be honest, no one else has thought about the problems with being so close to the sun in any kind of vessel. For the full explanation you should certainly watch the video for yourselves but what I will say is that the detail in it is certainly astounding.
Other similar videos include such important topics as the correct method for orbiting a beacon, how to hide behind an asteroid and the creation of a personal parking spot in front of a station. Personally, I have found the most helpful videos to be a guide on how to never get lost while flying through space. I spent a large portion of my eve career flying through wormholes and while the use of complex tools like Tripwire and Siggy made navigation much easier, the simple method outlined by Mocrean Adrian will revolutionize the way that many wormhole dwellers will work.
What Mocrean suggests is to leave one unit of tritanium behind you every few hundred meters creating a ‘jet can’ behind your ship leaving an obvious point by which to navigate even if you become disorientated, as can happen in the deep nothingness of space. This idea is particularly impressive because (as is pointed out in the video) tritanium is so cheap that even the most inexperienced player will surely be able to afford enough minerals to pilot their ship safely. Also, the small size of the mineral gives it an edge over something like veldspar as it can fit in sufficient quantities within almost any ship.
However, there is sadness to this story as well. At the time of writing, these brilliant tutorials are stuck in the realm of obscurity leaving the crucial advice that they hold out of reach for the new players who need it most. As such, I am going to create a petition that I would like all of you to sign. The purpose will be simple, to get the newly appointed CCP Ghost to add these videos to whatever new player experience he eventually comes up with.
