Here at EN24 we periodically put out a fairly standard call for writers. However I wanted to go beyond that by sharing some thoughts and personal experience regarding the role of EN24.
I started writing here in 2011 as a newer player. I had just finished training the skills to fly a stealth bomber and decided to try my luck out with a 0.0 alliance. I had never really lived in 0.0 before. The sensation I had as I traveled my way south west to Period Basis was a bit like when one is young and they finally muster up the courage to swim further out into the sea than they had before. When you first start playing Eve you feel like you could die at any moment from just about anything.
As I took the gates to TPAR-G I remember running into a gang of roaming Morsus Mihi [RAWR] battlecruisers. I read how Morsus Mihi was evacuating from the north after a combined force of Pandemic Legion [-10.0] and Russian alliances destroyed the “Old” Northern Coalition. These were their remnants. I had a mixed feeling of reverence and sympathy, like watching legionnaires having to retreat after a major onslaught of barbarians. I never imagined myself ever flying anything bigger than a frigate so even the sight of their Hurricanes and Drakes was impressive.
I liked that what I had read about the war in the north had some effect on me as well even if the conflict had been so far away. Although I evaded the Morsus Mihi gang, it showed how a big splash in Eve could send ripples and even waves across the universe. We were all connected. I wondered what sort of waves I could make as I docked my ship up in TPAR-G.
It was perhaps only a few weeks later that the FC called for a roam through Delve. I joined up and we ran into that same Morsus Mihi group. It wasn’t a huge fight but it was one of the first larger ones I had experienced at the time. Writing about the battle was my first article at EN24. In that manner an unknown new player had a chance to share the story of his alliance to the whole Eve community. It was a very simple and perhaps inconsequential event to write about, but it was still an event in Eve which added more depth to the overall story of Eve.
EN24 is about providing the player base with a platform to share their stories and through the process enrich the game for us all. We’re not tied to any particular coalition’s narrative, nor do we have any particular agenda except simply to publish the events of Eve Online. Presenting the stories of Eve players like you and sharing it with others is our single goal. You could be the one that documents your story and the story of your friends in articles right here. If you’re interested in writing Eve history, contact us.
It’s also a pretty good way to make some ISK 😉
