Many of you may have heard of Cercis InoAtari, or at least of Cruis3rs Cr3w, his old alliance. Before the disbanding of Cruis3rs Cr3w, Cercis was successfully running an NPSI based alliance, and fighting alongside Snuffed Out against Shadow Cartel and their allies, in what was known as “The Placid War”. Now, of course, that war has slowed down and been replaced by a war of rebellion, as the Imperium attempts to create a Viceroyalty in the Placid region.
As the war between Shadow Cartel and Snuffed Out was reaching a new height, with Snuffed being helped by the newly reformed TISHU, they reset Cruis3rs Cr3w alliance, taking back the expensive moons that they had helped Cruis3rs Cr3w gain from Shadow Cartel, and offered Cercis and his alliance a choice, merge into Snuffed, or be prepared for an all out war. Suddenly surrounded by enemies, Cercis made what he felt to be the right call, and disbanded Cruis3rs Cr3w, and merged the main corporation, Republic of Pew into Snuffed Out.
Within a day of joining Snuffed Out, Cercis approached Snuffed Out leadership in an attempt to regain control of some of his lost moons. Within 24 hours of joining Snuffed Out, Cercis and Republic of Pew were kicked from the alliance, and Cercis swore he was quitting the game for good.
Since then, Cercis has returned to the game, and is refusing to take a leadership position in his new corporation and is instead returning to what he loves. FCing on a regular basis, without the added pressure of running an alliance. Cercis being a friend of mine, I decided to catch up with him, and hear his side of the Snuffed drama, and see what he had planned for the future.
Dracos Rhaghar: Hey Cercis. Its good to have you back in the game. How are you doing?
Cercis InoAtari: Its good to be back. I honestly didn’t think I’d be back, but I am.
Dracos Rhaghar: Well, I’m going to start with probably the most controversial subject of this interview, the Snuffed Out drama. You started Cruis3rs Cr3w around the NPSI modus operandi, and aimed to prove NPSI alliances could be successful, and started to get fights in Placid.
Cercis InoAtari: We took 19 moons from OSS, Shadow Cartel and Snuffed Out, and never asked for blue standings in the region. it was Snuffed Out, and Shadow Cartel, who approached us on the same day looking for blue standings.
Dracos Rhaghar: So you would say that both factions in the Placid wars recognised Cruis3rs Cr3w as a strong new entity in Placid, and wanted you to aid them in the region.
Cercis InoAtari: Yes, after we defeated each side on several occasions, including killing their capitals.
Dracos Rhaghar: So what happened with Snuffed Out?
Cercis InoAtari: They utilised our assistance, while keeping us from joining Shadow Cartel. We shared all objectives, R64’s, 32’s and 16’s. We took nearly every major moon in Placid, and shared them. Although corporations in Snuffed were privately conversing with me to acquire those moons from us. Snuffed Out claim that the Placid Wars were not about money, I can assure you that it is definitely about the money. Its always about the money. Snuffed Out utilized us to ensure Shadow Cartel did not receive our aid, and I know the US timezone guys in Snuffed Out really appreciated our help. The EU guys, however, were completely different, and the US guys there said that they were sick of answering to the European leadership in Snuffed.
Dracos Rhaghar: Well there were rumours of an attempted coup within the organisation that have since been silenced.
Cercis InoAtari: I have heard rumours of this, but i can only assume that they got tired of the internal drama. We were flying with Snuffed Out and the newly reformed TISHU, but Snuffed Out was unable to win fights without our assistance. Cruis3rs Cr3w were the turning point in the war. However, when TISHU arrived back on the scene, there were some diplomatic issues. Some of my pilots were being foolish, and getting TISHU pissed off, and since TISHU acquired the remnants of Black Legion in Dixon Cox Butte Preservation Society, and many DIX pilots hold a grudge against us, they were applying pressure on Snuffed to reset us. Snuffed downplayed our involvement in this area, while trying to arrange a merger.
We were blue with the Lethal Ironboards coalition in Cloud Ring, who found themselves under pressure from the Pandemic family, and subsequently left the area, with Lethal Intent joining Snuffed, and Iron Armada withdrawing from the area. We were left in a terrible situation. Snuffed Out reset us, and we found ourselves surrounded by enemies on all fronts, and losing moons.
Cruis3rs Cr3w itself was suffering from internal drama, with certain corporations refusing to be involved in fleets, so I made an executive decision, and disbanded the alliance, and applied to join Snuffed Out with my corporation, Republic of Pew. We joined Snuffed Out, and in less than 24 hours we were kicked from the alliance.
Dracos Rhaghar: With regards to you and Republic of Pew being removed from Snuffed Out, it was stated that you had asked for moons within 24 hours of joining the alliance.
Cercis InoAtari: You did not hear the whole story. Snuffed Out put a political spin on the whole situation. I had met with a non-senior member of leadership, a T2 director of sorts. I was of the opinion that some of the moons we had helped them take, in good faith, we requested if they would be kind enough to return some of their moons to us. This was blown out of proportion, and messages were sent to Donnie, the CEO of Snuffed Out, exaggerating the events. I then recieved a message from Donnie stating the following:
“I hear you are causing drama in the alliance already. I am kicking you from the alliance”
This was completely disrespectful, considering I was making a genuine request, seeing as we had compromised our goals to join them.
Dracos Rhaghar: So Cercis, after you got kicked from Snuffed Out, you decided to leave the game.
Cercis InoAtari: I felt like as hard as I tried to build something community based, because of egotistical mindsets of many people, and the failures of those I find myself surrounded by, I felt demoralized. Either I am surrounding myself with the wrong people, or I am not meant to lead an organisation. Maybe I should stick to FCing, as I am now.
Dracos Rhaghar: So you were trying to build an NPSI community based alliance, where people could have fun, while at the same time, achieving strategic goals. Spectre Fleet also attempted the same thing, and dissolved not long after the dissolution of Cruis3rs Cr3w alliance. Do you feel that EVE doesn’t really support NPSI gameplay, or what do you feel caused both alliances to fail?
Cercis InoAtari: As I have PVPd for 7 seven years, and FC’d almost as long, I have seen when people see something valuable, they gravitate towards objects of value. An NPSI attract people because they want PVP, however, an alliance requires commitment, and you have commitment vs people taking part in something that does not require commitment.
Dracos Rhaghar: So would you say NPSI alliances cannot exist?
Cercis InoAtari: When you form an alliance, it requires commitment and organization, and NPSI fleets don’t need commitment, so it’s a conflict of interests. I have learned to step back, I’m going to do what I love, and FC. Have fun, and shoot shit. When we quit Cruis3rs Cr3w alliance, and Snuffed, NC. asked us to join them. They knew we were capable of great things, but we didn’t want Nullsec life. Low-Sec is where the most content is, because you are in direct conflict with people because of your proximity to other people. On my first day back, I got dropped by a Nyx. Low-Sec people are crazy, and I want to take advantage of that.
Dracos Rhaghar: So you’re back with a vengeance, what are your plans?
Cercis InoAtari: I want to pew, and FC, and grow the corporation I am now part of. Someone else can be CEO, I want to just have fun, and create content. I respect people I fight, and I love PVP, its like crack, I cannot get enough of it.
Dracos Rhaghar: So you want to concentrate on what you enjoy?
Cercis InoAtari: I want to train other FC’s, and boost the entity I’m part of. I will pass on my knowledge, and the more FC’s, and the more fleets, the happier players of EVE will be. If you see me in system, I’ll have a fleet with me, and by all means, let’s dance.
Cercis is back, creating content, and you can see one of his latest fights in the video below.
