Early this morning a post was created on Reddit claiming to be a direct quote from an alliance message from Gorga, CEO of Common Sense Ltd, and Nulli Secunda. This post claims that Nulli Secunda aim to disband after the alliance tournament finishes. Although this information is unconfirmed, it would appear that Common Sense Ltd are no longer recruiting.
The Reddit post read as follows:
It has been a while since I have written one of these, but an announcement like this is best coming from me.
It is no secret that the last weeks have been kind of rough for all of us and the content has been dried out for a while now. We had a bunch of great fights around the Khanid R64s we have taken and kicked both PL’s and Darwin’s ass on multiple occasions. Now our AT-team is once again showing an impressive performance and has already reached the quarter-finals with a convincing swipe against TNT last weekend.
However, with the end of the alliance-tournament coming into sight, we have to ask ourselves where this alliance is going and how we will face a future under Aegis SOV.
We, as High Command and Alliance Leadership have to offer an apology to you, to the people and corps that stuck with us through these tough times, and to the people that have accompanied us while we determined how to carry on. The absence of leadership did not do justice to what this great alliance has been able to accomplish, to all the people working so hard and giving their best, to everyone that kept our campaigns running and enabled us to stand here today successfully, after 5 years of fighting in many of the greatest wars EVE had to offer.
We did not do you justice in the recent weeks and we want to apologize for that. The consistent burnout of important people has been a problem for a while now, and even with trying our best to bring in new blood and keep our people motivated it has ultimately not been the leadership you guys deserve.
Earlier this month the point had come where we had to make the decision how to continue, how to start over, since we could not and did not want to continue like this. It was a more than difficult decision, but in the end we do not think that we would be able to rebuild in a way that would do justice to the name of Nulli Secunda and the strong reputation that we have built over the years.
With the end of Alliance Tournament XIII, Nulli Secunda will be closing its doors.
Closing an alliance that so many of us have helped to build and strengthen over the last 5 years is not an easy decision, but seeing it happen through a burnout of leadership makes it twice as hard.
5 years ago, Nulli was a small and insignificant alliance, a second tier IT Alliance pet living in basically nothing. Today we fought as a main-player in the N3 in the greatest war that has ever happened, returned from the verge of defeat in B-R to winning said war, reversing the progress that the russians and the CFC had made in months in barely more than a week. Our CSM nominations have been elected the last 3 years running (well, heh, 2.5 anyway). Our story that lead up to this point is available here, authored by our own Ion Flux: https://www.dropbox.com/s/qq59nrk2v5t66ut/S2N_LEGEND_PDF.pdf?dl=0
The following Esoteria invasion once again became an overwhelming success and another high-point in the history of this alliance. Not only pushing Stainwagon and their allies out of the region and into NPC-space, but also following them again and taking their R64s 1 jump next to their staging system.
With heaven and earth put into motion to drive us from our home, we turned north and after many a great battles forced TRI and SOLAR into seeking peace, ensuring a 100% contract success-rate for Mercenary Secunda.
In Khanid we took R64s while simultaneously kicking PL and NC. fleets around, and our AT-team once again dominating their bracket. We can look back and say without any bitterness: It has been a great 5 years, that we did well against all odds and became what we never even could imagine.
Many friends have accompanied us over the years, too many to thank each individually. The list of people that worked so hard and offered so much to this alliance goes on and on, people that accompanied us since the beginning or joined our course on the way, people that led, that kept making the alliance tick, that brought out fleets each and every day, that did so much ungrateful work running IT or cooling the hotheads and kept everyone working on the common goal. So many people that kept our finances tight, that spied on our enemies. Thank you to everyone that kept our rental program running, that provided countless hours of intel on our enemies and scanning regions to make way for the invasions to come. Thanks to the people that provided our fighting heroes with SRP, to everyone that worked and coordinated with our allies, to all the countless people that kept the gears turning.
Thank you to the CEOs for their patience and passion, thank you to the directors who kept all these great corps of Nulli running, and thank you to everyone who accompanied us along this way, you gave us so much.
And thank you to all opponents, large and small, we encountered over these five years. We are much obliged.
Hats off to CCP for creating a game in which a group can exist for this long and experience so much together. We literally could not have done it without you.
Now this is not the end. Life goes on. All those parts that made the entire thing of Nulli Secunda so great will still continue to exist. Your corps will find new and old friends to fly with, and all the people from alliance-chat will still be there, one place or another. Take some time with your corp and think about what a future under Aegis Sov will hold for you, and where you want to fly with your friends in the future. But for the moment remember to not go anywhere just yet: After all, there still is a tournament to win!
Ladies and gentlemen, it has been an absolute honor.
Rumors of Nulli Secunda disbanding have been floating around for the last few months, and whether the reddit post is fact remains to be seen. However, the truth will come to light over the next few weeks as the alliance tournament draws to a close.
