Today, we have received an official statement from the Office of the Court Chamberlain confirming rumors that the Amarr Empire has issued a formal declaration of war against the Drifters in response to a Drifter incursion in the constellation of Homroon.
In the release, which was marked with today’s date, the Court Chamberlain confirmed a meeting between leaders of the Imperial Armed Forces, the Theology Council and the Ministry of War, during which Grand Admiral Kezti Sundara described the threat to the Empire to be “a threat to Holy Amarr, His will, and God’s chosen that is absolute”.

After consultation with Grand Admiral Sundara, Executive Officer for the Amarr Navy, and Ministry of War Chief of Staff Divine General Perimum Amyn, a decree from the Imperial Court Chamberlain regarding the Drifter threat and response to events that transpired on Friday, August 21st, YC117 in the Imperial system of Safizon is laid out as follows.
As a result of the murder of Her Royal Highness Empress Jamyl I and the unprovoked attack on the Holy Amarr Empire, her lands and her people,by forces recognized on an interstellar level by the signatories of the Yulai Convention as “Drifters”, the Imperial Armed Forces find no action more appropriate than direct and full response to the Drifter threat to Holy Amarr.
On the morning of August 22nd, YC117,Grand Admiral Kezti Sundara addressed an assembly of Executive Officers of the Imperial Armed Forces, Ministry of War and leaders of The Theology Council, outlining the threat posed by Drifter forces to the Empire.The threat to Holy Amarr and to God’s chosen was deemed to be absolute.
This release is to confirm that by decree of the Imperial Court Chamberlain, Lord PomikHaromi, as of 11:00 EVE Standard Time on August 25th, a full state of war exists between Drifter forces, and the Holy Amarr Empire. All divisions of the Imperial Armed Forces have been issued Executive Orders containing instruction that their primary objective is the defense of the Empire’s borders, her people, and God’s will.

Since the official declaration of war before downtime today, we have since received word of a large battle between Drifter and Imperial Navy forces as part of the war plan designated “GRAVITY WELL” in the system of Nandeza. Again, an official statement to support reports of the battle was received.
The Amarr Empire’s Ministry of War has confirmed reports from independent observers that, within the last hour, elements of the Imperial Navy have engaged a concentration of Drifters in the Khanid Kingdom system of Nandeza. This action follows today’s declaration of war against the Drifters by the Amarr Empire. It is unclear if the latest Drifter presence represents a change in their activity at this time.
Elements of the Imperial Armed Forces continue to move into positions according to the war plan designated “GRAVITY WELL” by the Ministry of War. Activated within moments of the assassination of Empress Jamyl I, it now seems clear that the plan is a combined core systems consolidation and border reinforcement strategy that is presumably a planned response to a so-called “decapitation strike” by an enemy power. While the main fleet elements of the plan seem to have been put into place within hours of its activation, there are many auxiliary units and large numbers of ground troops still in the process of reaching their designated locations.
On the home front, across all the worlds of New Eden’s largest empire, the Ministry of Internal Order has been active both on the streets and on public GalNet casts. The primary propaganda theme has been to strike a note of iron resistance to a foe of unimaginable evil, with subjects exhorted to work and pray for the “Defense of the Throne Worlds”.
The Amarr Empire is calling all capsuleers to aid them, as the Drifter Incursion in the constellation of Honroon is an immediate threat, not only to the safety of Amarr space, but to the safety of the whole of New Eden.
