At 18:51:01 UTC today, we received reports from Bishop Alizebeth Amalath of the Order of Jamyl. The Order of Jamyl is a newly formed religious order at the centre of Amarr. When asked about the foundation of the order, Mother Alizebeth replied:
It began yesterday. After spending much time in prayer trying to discern God’s Will in all of this, we have been conducting a nonstop vigil for the Empress, during which we have discerned a few things.
The first, is that she was returned to us by God for a reason. And that she was taken back for a reason. God returned her so that she could be our savior, from the Elder fleet, from the Blood Chamberlain. She did what we could not do for ourselves. But now, we all have to stand on our own. Empress Jamyl saved us then and now, God makes sure that we faithful can save ourselves from this threat. Her coming was heralded by the Bright Star, her departure by Caroline’s star.
We believe she knew that her time was coming to an end and that is why we have seen her so much the past few weeks, that she has been active with us, and why she had commissioned the Auctoritas. The Order of Jamyl, hopefully soon to be the Order of Saint Jamyl is dedicated to continuing her work to make the Empire safe, to defend the faith and to serve God. We also will keep her memory alive until she returns again in the time of our greatest need.
The original press statement released was as follows:
There will be a church service on the 24th of this month. 1800 at the Mehkios Graveyard and then 0300 the following morning at the Amarr Legio Basilica. The time has been moved up in light of the military situation in Providence.
At 18:00 there will be a golden fleet at the Mekhios Graveyard to remember the life and Glory of Empress Jamyl Sarum.
At 0300 the next morning (9 hours later) there will be a funeral mass at the Amarr Legio Basilica.
From now until 1700 on the 24th, there will be a prayer vigil around the wreck of TES Seraph It will be continuous.
Jamyl Sarum was a gift from God, a true gem of the Empire. Her death is a tragedy beyond words. I invite all the faithful, our friends and allies to attend either or both services.
When asked about how she saw the funeral happening, and whether she could foresee the enemies of the empire, and non-believers seeking to take advantage of Amarr’s state of vulnerability, and of the faithful who will surely gather to mourn in requiem, the reply was
As capsuleers we all know that there is a chance for danger. We are going to leave it up to individual pilots and corporations to determine their policies for the security of their ships and crew. We am not going to attempt to demand anything from the enemies of Holy Amarr. Those that are inclined to cause trouble will do so regardless of any statement on my part. Her Majesty might be gone, but the Empire remains strong. Her memory remains strong. All of the heirs and all of our institutions are intact. Sad and mournful we might be at her loss; shocked we might be at the suddeness of it, we will not yield. We will fight any enemy of Holy Amarr, be it Drifters, or the Minmatar down the last ship, the last missile, the last drone, the last crystal all the way down to our very eyeteeth to end them. And we will do it for Empress Jamyl and for God.
I also sought to ask about the threat of the Drifters, and whether Bishop Amalath thought the Empire could really withstand the assaults of an enemy who all too cleary can strike anywhere, at any time within the Empire, as seen in the tragic ambush of the Empress.
With the stongest conviction, we say yes. While they have shown a willingness to use new tactics, we are confident in the Imperial Navy and the faithful capsuleers. The loss of the Empress is a great shock, but we do not expect they will be able to duplicate such a feat. Previous attacks by drifters have been beaten off by the Navy and loyal capsuleers and we will do so again. Hundreds if not thousands of ships have been fitted and sit ready to be taken into battle.
With the Amarr Empire in disarray, the Imperium attacking Providence, and the faithful gathering in requiem, there is surely an opportunity to strike at a mass gathering such as this. What role will you play in these events?
