Hasmijaala system, The Citadel region. On the 19th of July 10:59 EVE Standard Time, a Titan belonging to LowSechnaya Sholupen [-LSH-] was destroyed in the system by forces belonging to Snuffed Out [B B C] in what was the sad ending to a bizarre series of mistakes committed by the Titan pilot.
The story itself begins in the Ragnarg system in the Metropolis region. A Sleeper Social Club [SSC] pilot spotted a cynosural beacon in the system and decided to warp to it and check it out. There he discovered the Leviathan with two Archon Carriers. The Carriers warped off and the Titan cloaked on the spot and aligned to the station. The [SSC] pilot called his friends from the Rancer system in Sinq Laison, a local group which usually camps the system and calls itself the Rancer Customs and Border Security. They hurried to the system as the [SSC] pilot de-cloaked the Titan.
Luckily, the group had four Heavy Interdictors and they held points on it while calling friends throughout Low, Null and even Wormhole space for reinforcements. At the same time, the [-LSH-] members attempted to extract their Titan, trying to light more cynosural beacons to bring in reinforcements, only for them to be destroyed by the gang. In the end, reinforcements poured in for both sides, with the two Archon Carriers returning to help their Titan friend.
Finally, a Falcon class Force Recon ship warped to the grid and landed jams on all Heavy Interdictors in its first cycle, freeing the Titan. This allowed the Titan to make a quick jump to the Carrou system in Sinq Laison as it hit 10% shields! With the Titan gone, the two Carriers were tackled instead and chose to self destruct, leaving the group with some killmails, though not a Titan kill as it were.
The story could have ended there, but it didn’t. One of the groups that was alerted to the Titan’s existence was [B B C]. The group lives in the Black Rise region and operates its own Super Capital hunting crew, named #WIDEASSHOLECREW. They have had several successes, including the destruction of a Revenant class Super Carrier. In their attempt to get more numbers, members of that crew were contacted by the Rancer Customs and Border Security group. However, details of the location or the identity of the Titan pilot were not divulged in time before its inevitable escape.
Thus, [B B C] pilots, working under the assumption that the system in question was Ragnarg, as it forms a bottleneck for Capital and Super Capital movement in the post Phoebe universe, checked the map for possible cynosural beacons active. One was located in the system of Carrou. Working on a hunch, the [B B C] pilot went to check the system, only to find the Titan on his directional scan!
However, the Titan pilot still had luck on his side, and by the time the [B B C] hunters reached the system, he managed to log off safely, leaving the [B B C] pilots with nothing. This did not deter the [B B C] pilots, though. They kept eyes in the system, waiting for the Titan to make another mistake, while scanning furiously for any associate characters who may prove to be his alts.
Their research came up with an appropriate character who, as it turned out, was active, moving through Low Security space and arriving to the Hasmijaala system. The character seemed to have settled in a safe spot and waited. As the scheduled server’s downtime approached, the Titan made it’s move. With only 5 minutes remaining, the Titan logged back into the game. [B B C] hunters attempted to force the Titan to jump out of the system by aggressing him with their ships, as [B B C] did not have the means to kill the Titan in the system. Too late, they realized it had logged off on a Gate. With Low Security space mechanics, this caused the hunter’s ships to be destroyed by gate gun fire. Yet, their plan may have worked, as the Titan decided to jump to its alt in Hasmijaala, perhaps spooked by the [B B C] hunters.
This decision ended the Titan’s lucky streak. Hasmijaala being both close to the [B B C] staging and in range of their Capitals. The Titan was quickly caught by [B B C] hunters that were lying in wait, Capitals and Super Capitals landing on top of it and making short work of it, as it only managed to regenerate its shields to 20%.
With the Titan destroyed, [B B C] left the field, congratulating itself on another job well done. As for the Titan pilot, his Titan fit suggests it was newly bought and traveling south to join its allies in Aridia, where [-LSH-] lives and operates its own formidable Super Capital hunting group, nicknamed the #REKKINGRUSKI. The pilot itself had been purged from his corporation after the incident.
