Camal system, Derelik region. On the 4th of July, 17:20 EVE Standard Time, an Erebus Titan belonging to Brave Collective [BRAVE] was destroyed in the system by forces belonging to REKKINGCREW and Pandemic Legion [-10.0].
Since their chaotic evacuation of Catch, [BRAVE] had many assets left all over the South of New Eden. This included an Aeon Super Carrier and an Erebus Titan which were stashed in the Camal system in the Derelik region at the dead of night. This however, did not go unnoticed, as the region serves as the hunting grounds for REKKINGCREW, an assembly of individuals who track and hunt Super Capitals moving through it.
REKKINGCREW learned of the location of the two Super Capitals and replaced the towers they logged off in, disposing of those belonging to [BRAVE] and instead putting their own offline towers, making sure that the Super Capitals will not be able to find shelter in the system should they log back in. Members conducted research of possible alt characters, watch listing main characters and preparing Heavy Interdictors in the system for their possible log in. The likely escape routes of the Super Capitals were also put under surveillance, leaving REKKINGCREW members to wait for their targets to fly into their trap.
First to log in was the Aeon, which was intercepted in its jump route and subsequently destroyed by the REKKINGCREW. However, the Titan proved to be a more elusive prey, seemingly completely inactive. Weeks and months passed by with little activity registered from the Titan pilot or any of its alts, while REKKINGCREW members were keeping tabs and remaining vigilant as ever. Finally, in the last few days the activity on the alt and main accounts of the Titan pilot increased dramatically. For REKKINGCREW members it was a signal; their target might be trying to extract soon!
On the 4th of July, what was thought of as a possibility was confirmed as the Titan’s main character and cyno alts were online and ready. REKKINGCREW moved swiftly, logging in the Heavy Interdictors they prepared in advance. As the first Heavy Interdictor landed on the the offline tower, the Erebus Titan landed next to it. With a bit of maneuvering the Titan was quickly tackled and the REKKINGCREW members poured in. Since the system was close to the [-10.0] staging area, its pilots were invited to join in on the kill.
Slowly, the Titan went down as more enemy ships piled into the system and applied damage. The Titan attempted to retaliate, choosing to fire its doomsday weapon on one of the present Super Carriers, with little effect. Finally, one of the REKKINGCREW Titans released it from its misery, firing its own doomsday weapon as the Erebus hit structure, instantly destroying it.
Once destroyed, the wreckage was left for REKKINGCREW to plunder, a well deserved reward for their patience, with [-10.0] forces returning to their staging system safely.
The Titan pilot had the following to say:
Obviously we (BRAVE) evacced Catch a while back, and in the process the tower I had parked in was RF’d and promptly killed by PL. After that was a long period of being AFK with occasionally logging in with other accounts to scout my situation out.
Decided to take a chance on the 4th of July, since fireworks and family tends to be a big thing, and just gambled wrong. Logged in, saw the hictors log into local, and accidentally took their fleet invite in warp instead of my own, which was ultimately the end of me.
I did at one point only have two hics on me, and neuted the Devoter out while the Onyx dropped point on me (Possibly out of range? Not sure, wasn’t neuting him.) but because of shaky hands, missed the warp button and was re-tackled.
After that, I just set out to try and kill FiBo’s and got my DD off on StarshipTrooper’s Revenant for show.
But, GG to PL and Rekking Crew. No hard feelings. 🙂
Once more, REKKINGCREW proved the value of patience and hard work, managing to bag a Titan kill to add to their already impressive tally. As for [BRAVE], this loss seems to be the least of their worries, considering recent events, and certainly not something that may register among their members who are all the way in Fountain.
