Another Avatar-class Titan fell today after being caught moving through the system of Dooz in southeast Derelik. The kill was the culmination of several days of hunting by members of Hax. [HAX.] and Nihilists Social Club [NULL], making it their second Titan kill within a week.
The Avatar, piloted by Anna Ramirez of the corporation Anarchy Power [ANPOR], a member of Shadow of xXDEATHXx [X.W.X], was destroyed by a combined supercapital and black ops fleet consisting mainly of Pandemic Legion [-10.0], Hax., Parental Control [PC-X], Purple Helmeted Warriors [PHEW] and Nihilists Social Club pilots.
Renowned supercapital hunter RoCkEt X of Pandemic Legion and Seiran, a member of Hax. involved in the hunt, revealed that the titan was moving through the systems of Audesder and Uanzin using the same cyno pilot. There, the supercapital hunters quickly exploited such carelessness, dispatching a team of #REKKINGCREW tacklers to follow the cyno pilot.
A video produced by Hax. reveals the moment when the tacklers finally landed on the Titan as he jumped into the sytem of Dooz.
RoCkEt X further describes the thrill of the catch here:
[11:44:56] RoCkEt X: there were a tense few seconds between ‘HE LIT’
[11:45:01] RoCkEt X: and then maybe 15 seconds later
[11:45:11] RoCkEt X: ‘cyno up bridge bridge bridge etc’
[11:45:18] RoCkEt X: it felt like a week though
[11:45:28] RoCkEt X: it’s one of those kind of ‘everyone hold your breath boys’ moments
Although there has been no clear indication of the intended destination of the pilot, the hunters speculate that his corporation was involved in the supercapital construction and this particular titan was being moved for sale in the southwest.
Yet although Pandemic Legion and associates have achieved much success in killing supercapitals, a Pandemic Legion Nyx fell earlier this week in Heimatar to low-sec dwellers. A source within Pandemic Legion explained that the Nyx died as a result of a disconnection from the EVE server while moving from Amamake to their deployment zone in Stain, but further recognized that they also would have killed a disconnected pilot in such unfortunate circumstances.
With this Avatar being the third titan falling this month, and the nineteenth this year, recent times have been dangerous for supercapital pilots since the Phoebe jump drive changes. Continued commitment by hunters, with pilot midmaster mini-man spending days planning this operation, means that moving supercapitals through areas such as Derelik is becoming increasingly dangerous. Furthermore, with the removal of the garage door method, whereby a pilot jumps within the range of an offlined forcefield, RoCkEt X speculates that supercapitals will be killed more frequently than ever.
