Following on from the Nyx kill on the 25th of March, yet another has been destroyed, adding to the stream of super losses which currently grace New Eden’s killboards.
This Nyx was killed in the system of 0J-MQW in the Nullsec region of The Spire.
The pilot, Edy murfyt, is a member of the Angels and Devils corporation who are a part of the DamnedNation [-DN-] alliance who, at first glance, appear to be a mining alliance based in the aforementioned region. I initially contacted the Alliance CEO of [-DN-], DJ Quark, who had the following to add:
Well it went down in a blaze of glory….. He started out defending a couple of corp mates with carriers, and since the area was clear, or so comms stated, we brought out one of the Nyxs. Unfortunately it turned out they had a Moros on standby along with a large Ishtar fleet which overwhelmed the fleet we had available online.
So the walk of shame was taken for Edy; he lost his Nyx.

As with every loss, there is always another side to the story and in this instance the aggressors were primarily from the corporation 13. [XIII-] in the Enigma Project [EXIII] alliance. I contacted the corporation and had two pilots, Gina Taroen and CommanderCane, provide me with the following interview:
Gina Taroen > Hello. I was there from the start. We were out hunting in an Ishtar, Malediction and an Omen Navy Issue. We initially tackled a Covetor and held him for a few minutes hoping they would escalate. They warped in a Brutix who we engage and as we kill it a Thanatos lands. We hold that for 10 ish more minutes while trying to sort out reinforcements and our Omen goes back to switch to a Sabre to hold him. Just before the Sabre arrives, a Nyx lands and is shortly bubbled by said Sabre. We start focusing on holding the Nyx at this point while rage pinging what we can.
CommanderCane > At this point we had a few other W-space groups rolling for better connections.
Gina Taroen > No-one was really close so we decide to go with 2 dreads. When the dreads land we shoot at him for a little while and he self destructs in 50%-ish armor.
CommanderCane > no space honour 🙁 Though a fun fact is we had no logi the entire time so dodging fighters was fun.
Gina Taroen > Only 1 Sabre held the tackle pretty long until No Vacancies got more Sabres on grid.
CommanderCane > We’d like to thank the other guys for content as it was our first super kill as a corp.

It appears that this loss was the result of a bad call to try and rescue a simple Covetor. If it had been left to die then we would not be discussion such an expensive loss, even though clearly those from [EXIII] did hope for some type of escalation. I imagine this was more than they hoped for.
