Earlier today a Nyx was lost in the system of Arton. This system was mentioned in my previous article with regards to it’s well known status of being a capital ship graveyard.
The Nyx lost in regards to this post was piloted by Sgt Spoonie of Erebus Rising corporation.
Due to the system involved and the pilots on the kill mail the leader of the “#REKKINGCREW”, RoCkEt X of Pandemic Legion [-10.0], was contacted to discover what happened. However, as explained below he was infact not on at the time of the kill and invited midmaster mini-man to the interview to explain what happened, as he was the one responsible for tackling the target.
[Editor’s note: Morgan Starkiller conducted the interview on behalf of EN24]
EN24 > So can you please explain what this kill mail is all about?
RoCkEt X > Sure I was asleep for the kill. midmaster is a member of #REKKINGCREW and is the one responsible for tackling the target
midmaster mini-man > Do you want the entire story?
RoCkEt X > It’s best if midmaster gives his story 🙂 as i said – i was asleep 🙂
EN24 > that would be great
midmaster mini-man > Unknowing of his intentions the below looked like a normal kill until almost an hour later.
EN24 > what happened an hour later?
midmaster mini-man > Zuzababa Moeller, who had been sitting in system as long as Alien Machine, undocked in his magnate and stayed ‘afk’ at 30au for ~15 mins. I viewed this as suspicious and put cloaky eyes by the planet and noticed a tower that is not native. As the tower was owned by Erebus rising meaning that right off the bat I had assumed he would “Garage Door Cyno.”
EN24 > what does that mean?
RoCkEt X > I’ll take this one. ”The Garage Door Cyno” is our term for the exploit wherein you light a cyno on an online tower with no PW set (so there is no force field.) You jump the super in, and either kill/self-destruct the cyno then online the force field. CCP has declared it an exploit because it circumvents the mechanics in place regarding cynos and force fields (i.e. a cyno can’t be lit within 25km of the bubble)
midmaster mini-man > At this point though (when I noticed the magnate by the tower) the tower was only anchored because I had killed his crane which was meant to fuel the tower, unintentionally delaying him.
midmaster mini-man > he eventually brought a tayra in to fuel the tower, but he logged it off (for reasons unknown, without fueling the tower.) I had a HIC cloaked (before he moved away from the tower) at a belt near a planet where the magnate was and I was aligned towards him. He light a cyno after the tayra logged and it was a Nyx which we already knew from forums etc. After I landed on the cyno magnate, the Nyx had already cloaked but panicked when he saw me and logged so I tackled him, brought more HICs in and that was that. He probably should have had taken time to have a more combat-ish fit tbh not only for his own sake but for loot :/.
EN24 > how long did it take to kill if I may ask
midmaster mini-man > 10-13 minutes
EN24 > doesn’t seem like a long time
RoCkEt X > once DPS landed, it would have only been a few minutes. The Nyx wasn’t expected, so the majority of that time was ‘oh fuck we accidentally tackled a Nyx, we should probably send some dps’
EN24 > Anything you would like to say before we end
midmaster mini-man > Yeah, since he had no tank, the dreads just melted him – could have just sat w/ blops, but I/we assumed it would have something besides cap stuff in the lows.
RoCkEt X > I’d like to add that since Mid has been working with us his efforts towards our group’s activity has been no less than incredible and I’m grateful he counts himself as one of us 🙂
EN24 > thanks for chatting with me guys I’ll be sure to get this up as soon as possible and I do have this copied in a word document
midmaster mini-man > oh – and this was a NULL/Rekking kill not a balder con kill :p
The kill shown below of Zuzababa Moeller in the Magnate agrees with the comment made by midmaster above.
This also ties in with the time taken to kill the Nyx as below. It shows that the kill happened around 10 minutes after the Magnate died.
In comparison to most usual super capital kills in Arton and similar systems, this death is unusual as the pilot seems to have done his best to avoid capture but somehow didn’t complete the final stage, obviously this may not have guaranteed his safety as he was clearly being monitored. The safest thing for him to do would have probably been moving when no one else was in system or trying to find a different route. However this is clearly not so simple with the new Phoebe jump range changes. In the end the result is the same, another score on the chart for the #REKKINGCREW and Nihilists Social Club [NULL].
