Today appears to be a bad day to fly a super-capital as prior to this Aeon being destroyed in Tribute, a Nyx and another Aeon have also been destroyed in the last 24 hours.
The Aeon that this post focuses on was piloted by Fornax Zontar of NPC corporation Viziam. He was destroyed in the H-W9TY of Tribute which is an usual place for an NPC super capital to be found as it is unlikely to have any support from the locals.
The aggressing parties in relation to this were the Circle-of-Two [CO2] alliance who are the current owners of the system that the super-capital was destroyed in. I therefore contacted the alliance diplomat of [CO2], Da Winci, to provide me with the details of the event, he had this to say;
Da Winci > Howdy, I am a person involved in the kill.
Amymuffmuff > Hey, so basically can you tell me what happened, how did you get the guy and is there anyone you’d like to thank etc
Da Winci > it was really quite simple.. the guy was an ex-member from BBAD corp that wanted to switch sides or so we suspected.
Amymuffmuff > okay
Da Winci > We waited for months, for him to log back into the POS. Since November basically and had a cloacky dictor in POS and someone ready to offline the shields. One of the other reasons we wanted to destroy his is the fact that he stole corp assets. Anyway, he logs, we get a couple of people in fleet (it’s in our home system) he lands and we kill him and his juicy pod. So basically we dealt with a corp thief the CO2 way.
Amymuffmuff > anyone in particular you want to thank for it? Do you know what he stole?
Da Winci > Tesla Ishikela is the CEO from BBAD that gave us the tip and he was Co-CEO when he stole so there is no way to know how much he actually stole So in good [CO2] tradition we will go after whoever he wanted to join 🙂 Of course thanks to Sebastien Saintfrusquin the most tenacious cap FC and our beloved SkyMarchal (Le Skymarchal). Have a good night and see you in Fountain
Amymuffmuff > Indeed you will
Da Winci > We will for sure 😛 o7
This shows that he most likely got kicked from the alliance when he left in January and the [CO2] alliance have been eagerly awaiting his return to ensure he could not escape like he probably hoped to do.
The key to what happened here is that the warp into which you enter upon log in to the game can not be stopped and, in a super-capital takes enough time to align, accelerate and warp, that there was time to for the [CO2] pilots to offline the POS and bubble up before he could escape.
This adds to the already expensive day for super-capital losses which stand at 78 Billion ISK in just 24 hours. This high attrition rate of super-capitals may continue you to rise as a new war has started in the Fountain region which could result in a large amount of super capitals lost, as explained in this post and is what Da Winci was talking about in his parting comments in his interview.
