The two week CSM X candidate application window has now closed, meaning any applications received from now on will no longer be considered as candidates for this years Council of Stellar Management and the voting window will open on the 25th of February.
In a recent twitter exchange CCP Leeloo confirmed that 100 applications to CSM X were received as of the 9th of February and only a few days later she tweeted:
As an interesting side note, CCP Leeloo also mentioned that 1 in every 3 candidates that apply fail to forward copies of their passports. While at this time there is no full confirmation of the approved candidates as there are still a few that the community team are waiting on additional paperwork.
However, this hasn’t meant that the candidates have been sitting back and relaxing, indeed the CSM Campaign section of the forum continues to be a hotbed of discussion. Since my last article, CSM X – Candidacy Period Update, there has now been four new candidate threads on the Eve Forums
Additionally, the Cap Stable podcast team have also been pushing out the interviews for CSM candidates as quickly as they possibly can, with interviews for the following eight candidates having being published since my last article.
After a quick discussion on twitter and the TweetFleet Slack chat, CCP Leeloo confirmed that despite there being 53 candidates who have made themselves known via the CSM Campaign section on the forums that 66 have so far been approved meaning some 18 are yet to make formal public announcements on their candidacy.
Two candidates since the last update have withdrawn from the race. Dave Korhal, of Kite Co. Space Trucking in Brave Collective announced his decision to withdraw on the 16th quoting on his forum thread:-
I have just found out I won’t be able to run for CSM this year like I planned. Therefore I am immediately withdrawing my candidacy. With luck, I will have the opportunity to run again next year.
Good luck to the other candidates, and hopefully this year of the council involves minimal drama.
The second candidate to withdraw is Tiberius Zol, of the turaagaq corporation in the GANOR INC. alliance. On his post in his candidacy thread he says:
As some of you read via twitter, I have to withdraw my candidature this year.
Long story short: I had two turbulent weeks at work caused by some changes in our company. This leaned to more responsibility (which will give me less time for the next months).
Now I had to change the order of my priorities.
I really couldn’t foresee this.I think, I will try it again next year, after everything settles down.
Thanks for everyone who supported me and sorry for maybe disappointing you.
This leaves 53 candidates now from the original 56 who said they would be in the running.
While again, its difficult to work out how overall opinion of the voter base as there is no real metric to gauge engagement. As a result for now the only indication we have are the number of ‘likes’ each candidate receives on their candidacy thread.
