Welcome to the third and slightly delayed article in a new series on EN24 where we will be looking at the ‘small things’ that might not make a full EN24 article but are either funny or interesting enough to share anyway!
We here at EN24 will be running one of these articles once a week after scouring the intel channels and other intel outlets for information to share with you, our readers.
Black Legion. return to Venal, this time to N5Y-4N.
Last week it was leaked on EN24 in this article, that Black Legion. would be quitting the field of Geminate and redeploying elsewhere.
The ‘elsewhere’ is now confirmed as N5Y-4N in the Venal region of New Eden. It is rumored that Black Legion. took a HUGE bribe from Legion of xXDEATHXx and the other residents of Geminate to leave the war.
I am sure Elo Knight and his cohorts will be looking to Fanfest in March for updates on the new SOV mechanics and may wait until after that to decide what to do next.
However, at the moment the Black Legion.’s standing orders seem to be to retake the moons they owned a few months ago, when they staged out of K3JR-J, and were taken by the CFC. It seem the leadership of Black Legion. want to concentrate on getting their members nice fat wallets and some new space ships to pew with before they decide their next move.
This may also help distract the CFC from what is happening in Stain and the surrounds, where a portion of them have been helping the Stainwagon Russians against the N3 Coalition. Will this make the CFC look at their lands in the North a bit less confidently? Will they feel the need to defend against Black Legion. redeploying to Venal? We shall see.
Northern Coalition. redeploy to Querious… for now.
It seems that Northern Coalition. have pulled their forces out of the Curse region, where they had been helping to defend space along with their N3 allies of Nulli Secunda, The Kadeshi and DARKNESS. against the combined intrusion of the Stainwagon Russian alliances and their allies in the CFC.
This move included moving super capitals out into low security space.
This move to F2OY-X may be very temporary though, with rumors that Northern Coalition. will be moving once again by the end of next week to a new staging system. We here at EN24 will keep you updated as more news of this redeployment emerges.
Some dreadnoughts deserve to die.
On the 3rd February 2015 a pilot in the Martinius Corp, Alani Martinius, undocked his Moros dreadnought in Reblier and went to get his cyno ship into position. However before he could light it, it was destroyed.
Forgetting his Moros was undocked and now slow boating away from the station, Alani Martinuis went AFK.
Enter Usurper. a small gang warfare corp that roams around the Black Rise and Syndicate regions. One of their pilots noticed the Dreadnought, which had now burnt around 50km off the station from which it undocked. He called up his FC and they formed a fleet of Usurper. pilots and assorted friendlies to try and take out the Moros. They believed that this was a well-laid trap; a Moros sitting 50km off a station, semi-aligned to the 6-CZ49 null sec gate is just to good to be true.
They formed up and the FC got tackle and called in his support. They took down the Moros in quick time, only taking damage from the station guns. They also managed to get Alanis’ pod which was worth around 200 million ISK.
What makes this a good article for ‘The Small Things’ is the fit on the dreadnought! The two guns on the dread are mismatched, one being a railgun the other a blaster cannon. The tanks… well it’s Tech 1 and it is a mix of both shield an armor tank.
It also has a Tech 2 1MN Microwarpdrive, yes thats 1MN and, I don’t pretend to know an awful lot about dreadnoughts, but I am pretty sure that since about 2010, they don’t get drones anymore, so why the pilot decided to add a Drone Navigation Computer I to the ship is beyond me.
Launcher and server issues plague CCP.
Last night, around 1900 eve time the server had a bit of a hiccup, disconnecting thousands of pilots. Players that disconnected while undocking were mangled such that their ship was in space but the pilot was not able to see or manipulate it in any way.
This was particularly worrying for me, having just undocked and jumped my still un-battle-scarred Archon from a kick-out station to another kick-out station with neutrals in both locals. I could see the ship with my cyno, my carrier pilot was able to talk in local, but I was unable to do anything but stare at a blank screen where my ship should be.
This type of server issue has become increasingly rare of late, with the DDOS attack against CCP either not happening as much anymore or CCP has managed to close whatever access the attackers had to be able to interrupt the server and cause massive amounts of players to lag out.
I hope that last nights hiccup is not the beginning of a new issue rearing its head. Having half a fleet suddenly disconnect due to a DDOS attack is not a fun experience.
Another issue which is plaguing CCP at the moment is that the Launcher seems to not be showing when it is running updates for a number of people, again myself included.
As you see from above, the bar which shows your progress and ability to play is grayed out and does not show as it should. This is from my personal launcher.
Below is a picture of the launcher as it should look when the client is ready and all updates have been downloaded and installed.
During downloads the yellow bar is also the progress bar and will also show what is being downloaded and at what speed. However at the moment, for a large majority of us we are not getting this info, or any other info, making it a case of trial and error as to whether we can log on each day.
I hope that CCP can get this sorted, either before Tiamat, so we know how our downloads are progressing and if there are any problems, or with the Tiamat patch itself.
EvE Online Tiamat official theme and Lens Flare.
EvE recently released the new Theme tune for the Tiamat patch which is coming on the 17th of February 2015
CCP also announced the introduction of Lens Flare, which makes sense considering, in the lore, you’re seeing the outside of your ship at all times because you are viewing it through a ‘camera drone’ which stays with your ship where ever it goes.
If you are indeed looking at your ship through the ‘eyes’ of a drone then this drone would have a lens out of which you are looking and would cause you to see lens flare effects. It works… it really does I promise.
Adjustable Lens Flare Settings
Lens flare graphics now scale with other performance configurations, reducing the client’s load on lower end machines and enhancing their appearance in line with other quality settings.
Well that’s it for this weeks issue of ‘The Small Things’ and I hope you enjoyed it and we shall see you next week for another edition!
