This morning an Avatar owned by Dre, member of Burning Napalm, NCDOT was killed by LowSechnaya Sholupen!
To find out what happened I contacted 3Better, who is one of the FC’s within LowSechnaya Sholupen. He told me that he received notification of someone shooting a LowSechnaya Sholupen POS in a system called Illi. Thinking that the attackers might have reinforced the POS, he flew over to Illi and checked the timer. Upon arriving, he noticed that only one Electronic Warfare Battery (also known as ECM jammers) had been damaged and nothing else. This seemed to be a bit strange so a background check was ran on Dre who was the pilot listed in the notification. To his surprise he found out that Dre was flying an Avatar. This got him excited and he logged in his alt that had access to a Locator Agent. After waiting a couple minutes the locator agent came back with the results saying that Dre was still located in Illi.
Knowing that the titan pilot was likely on a safe spot, 3Better decided to move a neutral Heavy Interdictor (HIC) into system who had combat probes fitted. To not scare off any potential friends/alts/scouts off Dre, he cloaked himself at a planet. Now it was time to wait for Dre to log back in. When doing the background check they saw that he was likely a UZ TZ Pilot. This is a bad time zone for LowSechnaya Sholupen members to be active and therefore they did not think that Dre would log in. Knowing that they might have a small chance in their prime time, 3Better kept his HIC alt in system. However after waiting hours for Dre nothing happened, so 3Better decided to call it a night.
This morning 3Better logged back in and decided to check Dre’s location again. The results were same as last time, but he decided not to set up the trap again because of lacking numbers.
Suddenly Dre logged in, so 3Better went to the login screen with his HIC alt. It was too late for him to login in and scan the titan out before the Titancould cloak and so he went back to his main screen. Just as he switched to his main, he received a new notification. Again the Titan pilot had aggressed the POS, meaning that the Titan pilot needed to do at least one warp to get back to a safe spot. He quickly tapped over to the client that had his HIC pilot and logged it in.
Dre was in local so as soon as his HIC landed, he launched probes to find the Avatar. With a single cycle, he managed to pin down the location and warped to it. When he landed in where the Titan should’ve been, he saw scanned the Avatar down at his own POS, but it had already warped off. He cloaked up and continued scanning because Dre’s Avatar was still in local. His first scan got him the result that he was hoping for, an Avatar at a possible safe, so he pushed the scan button again, hoping to get a 100% hit.
His second scan was a success so he warped to it. In warp he decided to scan again, giving him a new result. This result was different to the one he was in warp to and he bookmarked it. When he landed there was no Titan on grid so he decided to try the new bookmark. However he found he was unable to warp to the bookmark. The only available option for him was to approach. With Dre still being in local he knew that he was very close. He clicked approach and started to speed over to the location he had bookmarked.
As soon as he reached the bookmark, Dre decloaked in his Avatar and 3Better quickly established tackle. He wasn’t prepared at all so the first action was to form a fleet. When that was done he started gathering all the people available through Alliance chat and Skype. People started to slowly login and he logged in his Cyno alt, which was still six jumps out. Knowing that this cyno alt was their only option he started burning it to Illi.
Dre knew that his Avatar was in trouble so he launched a mobile depot to refit his high slots to Heavy Neutralizers and Smartbombs. It was hard for 3Better to keep his warp disruptor active thanks to these Heavy Neutralizers and he confessed to have lost point a few times but Dre must have not noticed that. Finally, his cyno alt got into the system and since he already had a few Dreadnoughts in his fleet, he decided to give it a try. He lit the cyno and the few dreads + some ghostriders jumped in. With the tackle secured by these new ghostriders, 3Better told his supercap pilots to jump in which increased the fleets damage output significantly.
As the last quarter of armor started to bleed away, a member of the LowSechnaya Sholupen fleet noticed a rescue fleet of NCDOT burning through Aridia. The dread pilots were told to overheat and make sure that this was their only siege cycle. With this extra bit of DPS coming from the overheated guns, the Titan stood no chance and exploded. 3Better quickly grabbed all the non-capital mods and started waiting for his dreads to exit siege. He didn’t have long to wait before he was able to warp his fleet to the POS that let to this kill. Everything landed safely inside of the POS and NCDOT received the news that they were too late. With the news that they were to late they turned for home, which then made it safe for the LowSechnaya Sholupen fleet to return home as well.
