Early evening EU time on 15th October 2014, Fractal Industries part of the Northern Associates. alliance lost two Nyxs’, three Archons and a Thanatos in B6-XE8, in what is rumored to be a Gorgon Empire crusade against suspected botting ratters in The Spire region of null sec.
According to information gained from reliable sources, The Gorgon Empire got tipped off that these capitals, doing plexes in The Spire, were suspected of using an illegal botting programme to farm ISK from the sites.
Gorgon empire formed up a gang with a core of Ishtar’s and Basilisk Logistic cruisers with assorted tackle and larger ships to add some extra DPS like the Talos and Machariel.
One they got tackle they burnt through the Thanatos and two of the Archons first.
They then focused on the first Nyx of Goodwill Aideron before taking down the third Archon and then the second Nyx belonging to Vind Nyx.
The Butchers Bill stands at Gorgon Empire and friends losing 10 ships and nearly 3.7 Billion ISK while Northern Associates lost 6 ships but had a far larger total of around 70 Billion ISK.
The Nyx of Vind Nyx was definitely not fit for combat, missing a number of lows, though it does seem that at least Goodwill Aideron was awake as he seems to have fitted a good tank to his Nyx and also agressed and destroyed the Gorgon Empire Machariel.
Only one of the Archons was Triage fit. Maybe he dropped hoping to save a friendly carrier or was there to rep anyway. The other carriers seem to be fitted mostly for damage more than rep power with lows consisting of drone damage amps, mids of tracking links and highs of drones control units.
When all is said and done it was a good catch by The Gorgon Empire.
