Late in the evening of 14th October 2014 a scout from the Lazerhawk Corporation, a group of wormhole dwellers who also enjoy the sweet nectar of good PVP, found a exit in the C5 they lived in and decided to head through into the connecting 0.0 space and have a look around.
After scouting around for a while, he found a lone Fraternity. Rattlesnake belonging to Magician Cat, doing a plex and called in support once a tackle had been confirmed.
This made for one dead Rattlesnake and Lazerhawks went back into their wormhole and kept a low profile for a couple of hours.
Four hours later, early in the morning of the 15th October a scout once again emerged from the C5 that Lazerhawks call home and started scouting around for targets and managed to nab this really badly fit ratting Archon belonging to Mako Scott:
His friends FlyingBee and Celestin Eren in a Ishtar and Caracal respectively and all three pods as well, all members of Fraternity.
The scout went to ground for a second time, and an hour later decided to try his luck once more. This time in the dead end system of EIH-IU where, again a ratting Archon was tackled and a fleet was brought in. However this time, the Archon pilot Miss Tsero tried to save herself by lighting a cyno and bringing in some friends, namely four more Archons and a Thanatos.
I managed to speak to Keith Planck of Lazorhawks who commented:
One of our scouts managed to tackle a ratting carrier in null after heading out of one of our exit wormholes. They cyno’d in a group of Carriers so we decided to bring in a single Naglfar and also drop a cyno inhibitor to stop them bringing in further reinforcements. As we got ready to bring in our dread, their sub caps landed on the field so we had to suicide our cyno Ishtar to make sure we could get our dread in.
As they landed the enemy subcap fleet started to orbit a wreck and some of the Scimitar logistics didn’t even start moving so our dread managed to one shot a couple of them which helped immensely. The Ishtar’s that they brought didn’t seem to have brought any Gardes (Gallente Sentry drones) which would have been the best choice of drones against our fleet.
Our fleet did manage to hold the field for a while as our dread chewed through the carriers. We had to warp off to regroup for a moment or two before we could get a warp in at zero on the enemy logistics that remained on the field.
Once we finished the Scimitars the rest of the enemy fleet had to warp off as they weren’t in rep range of the carriers. This then left us free to finish off the capitals left on the field.
Our FC got word that Fraternity. were massing a large fleet to fight us just a couple of jumps away so we decided to scoop what loot we could, get our Naglfar out to safety and get our subcaps away while the going was good. We heard rumours that a rage-ping had gone out and that they were trying to get a Titan to drop onto our Naglfar.
The butcher’s bill was as follows, Fraternity. Lost 14.3 billion ISK including five carriers while Lazerhawks lost 17 ships for a total of 2.74 billion ISK including six Ishtar’s and a Scimitar Logistics:
There are some comedy kill mails in this fight. My personal favorite, and one that Keith pointed out to me, was the Thanatos. All Gallente T1 ships have a huge explosive hole when it comes to armor. However, this pilot decided that it wouldn’t matter and fitted every other resist mod EXCEPT the Explosive one. He had one in his cargo, maybe he should have used a fitting service from the other carriers and actually fit it!
