Tranquility Issues : Trouble in New Eden

September 15, 2014

For those of you lucky enough not to have been around when these have happened, every several days or so a “mass disconnect” followed by Tranquility going offline has been happening.

The first time this happened we brought you an article about incursion runners who had loot removed from wrecks.

This by my count has now happened 5 times that I have personally experienced, each following the same type of issues :

Ships in space stop responding to commands or take up to 10 seconds to follow a command, a “catch up” happens with your ship going forth and doing 10 seconds worth of commands in a single second followed finally by the dreaded “socket closed”

While this issue is annoying and hurts players as well as CCP in the short term it also puts extra pressure on the GMs who do the reimbursement petitions having to sort through dozens of ship losses each time.

If you, like many other people have lost a ship that was at the time of the “issues” you can petition CCP and will have whatever was destroyed reimbursed this however does not work for items that survive. Any items that survive your ships destruction will stay in the wreck and you will need to find a way to claim them albeit without your ship.

This is both slightly humorous and aggravating for two reasons :

1. you are expected to be the first to log back in and get to your wreck, while this sounds easy enough remember if you are in an fleet you can have quite a lot of players nearby.

2. This being my personal favourite, now without your ship you are expected to grab your loot from your wreck using whatever you have (likely a rookie ship only) even though the ship you were using succumb quickly to whatever killed it.

CCP have made a notification mail that appears under the “miscellaneous” tab.

That notification reads :

Dear XXX,
A salvage operation recently recovered your xxxx class ship from a debris field in xxxxx. You should be able to retrieve your ship at xxxxx. The salvage team could not find any items that were ejected from your ship prior to its apparent destruction so if you were not able to retrieve the cargo canisters there is sadly nothing we can do. Law requires us to notify your friendly insurance company and they have deducted any financial payout from your account.

Sincerely,
Your friendly neighbourhood CONCORD police squad

While for now this is simply a band-aid solution, frustration is starting to set in as this issue is continuing to happen.
