Bombers Bar, Don’t call it a comeback!

September 10, 2014

By Seraph IX Basarab

I had the pleasure of joining Bombers Bar in the early days of its conception around March of 2012. Individuals such as Eatsbabies, Johnny Freedom and of course Tempelman N were great people to work with. Systems such as M-O, EC-P8R and of course HED-GP were virtual death traps, not from some heavily organized pvp alliance, but individuals like you and me that simply wanted to have fun in their bombers and were determined to learn how to play the game. An early article from the summer of that year details some of the great kills we scored in Bombers Bar and captures the feeling of fun that the organization would become well known for.

It was during this summer that Bombers Bar ingame channel would break into the hundreds as people from all over flocked for a chance to enjoy this no nonsense no politics game play style. Highsec miners, elite pvp players and everyone in between “x”ed up quickly for a chance to join the ever popular fleets. Beyond just camping gates, Bombers Bar also hosted at least two regional merc campaigns in Querious and Tribute as well as the mass destruction of a full TEST Alliance Battle Cruiser Fleet:

Bombers Bar continued its streak of success well into 2013 when a AWOX by a rival NPSI group coupled with the drama they had instigated caused many of the older leaders in Bombers Bar to take a break, including Tempelman. Bombers Bar saw a plummet in activity but the indomitable spirit of the community prevailed. The past few months has seen the return of several of the older members including Tempelman.

I have the pleasure to present to you a light hearted, fun, explosion filled film simply titled “Bombers Bar, the Hunt.”

Since the return of Tempelman, Bombers Bar has continued its fun modus operandi but in a relatively more secure manner. Being an open NPSI community tended to attract people that wanted to harm the community for personal gain. To thwart this, Tempelman has devised a “squad based system” in order to limit the amount of damage such an enemy could do. Each squad is lead by a community leader that works independently or together with other squads to reach common goals and to compete in friendly matches. This new adaptation on an old beloved formula has helped motivate innovation and curb awoxing attempts.

However the general sentiment in bbar about awoxing seems to be “who cares, it’s just space pixels” and it’s exactly that sort of laid back attitude which will keep and maintain the community a strong place for the most important reason we play Eve, to have fun.

Join Bombers Bar in game channel, X up, have fun, it’s that easy.
