This townhall can be otherwise known as the “OMG wormhole spawning distances WTF” edition.
For those that missed the Wormhole townhall with CCP Fozzie, as I did, then feel free to listen it here:
My notes from this have the following items:
– Capital pilots are not happy with the new distance mechanics of wormhole jumps.
– There are a less vocal group that don’t mind the new distance mechanics. (1)_
– CCP think that groups will work out methods to mitigate risks, and that clever groups will be fine; but they do see this change as causing fights; that is creating the (PVP) content that we crave.
– Some small C5 corp was very concerned about the changes, as they don’t have the support ships; and will decide whether to roll the wormhole or POS up and log off, or simply move out of where they are.
– CCP do not wish to design by election. For example, there has, on some measures, been an increase in the wormhole Ore mining since the move to anomalies.
– CCP intend the nerf to our ability to isolate ourselves. CCP want wormhole jumps to be dangerous.
– For the PVP groups, there will not be a rollback to the recent API changes. CCP Fozzie foreshadowed this loss of perfect information being rolled out into other parts of Eve.
– CSM Corbex is off to find out what can be done about c4’s having only 1 hour of hidden outgoing K162’s unopened wormholes as most other wormholes will have 6 hours.
– Finally in conclusion, C5 and C6 groups are not happy with the distance their Capitals will spawn from wormholes.
(1) For the record; for our sub-cap wormhole rolling fleet, I think I will be safer. A frigate to set a bookmark; we are still bound by polarization timers as we can’t roll in one pass. It’s the second C4 static that has me worried.
