At approximately 3:47 eve time a Nightmare was trapped and killed by a nicely played ambush.
As far as we can tell this Nightmare is run by a single person using “ISbox” a tool that will mirror keystrokes from one client and broadcast across all the others. This particular pilot instead of doing the normal Vanguard sites (10-12man maximum) decided that the Headquarters sites simply paid better (40man sites) and he would try them out.
After a small amount of calculations not only would this yield 1.3 billion isk (excluding LP) per site, but would also remove the urgency in having to stay on top of quick warp outs to keep the isk up in vanguards.
His method for running these sites : Sticking to Tpph’s and Nrf’s ( True power provisional headquarters, the slowest site and easiest) (Nation rebirth facility, a quicker site that snipers dominate in) When on of his nightmares would take aggro he would simply activate the micro jump drive and around 10seconds later he was 100km from his last position and away from the heavy dps battleships.
This method while time consuming can work (not well, but with 0 logi its about the only way of doing these sites) So if this method works how is it he died? A small group decided to show how they feel about this person making 1.3billion isk per hour and felt he needed a lesson. They warped rookieships into site alongside the nightmares and using propulsion modules and scramblers they kept up with and held in place the nightmare that took aggro not allowing him to flee using the jump drive. Now the reason the scramblers work and not the npc’s versions is because most if not all Npc’s in eve use warp disruptor modules, which do not shut off micro warp drives or micro jump drives.
What resulted is this Nightmare loss:
Now while this may seem like a expensive lesson, look at the value of modules lost. This turns out to be about an hours worth of his time (assuming he can finish 1 Tpph per hour) Now the fit is a little on the silly side, Not only is it dual tanked with armor and shield but the only module that provides resistances is the damage control.
A single tech 2 invulnerability field would have provided more effective hitpoints for this ship but uses capacitor to stay running, the age of these characters would likely point to them having mediocre skills at best and is likely the reason he has a power diagnostic system.
