An entry system to The Bleak Lands region of the Minmatar/Amarr war zone has been the home and staging point of all major minmatar alliances/corporations for longer than many of us care to remember. They called themselves Losematar. during the civil war earlier this year and they are known to the Amarr as the Huola Coalition. This coalition within the militia consists of around 10 major warzone entities and some smaller now assimilated corporations and alliances. Huola Co. weighs in at roughly 1500+ individual pilots with countless neutral fleet boosting alts and capital pilots. Their time zone coverage spans around the globe consisting of RUS, EU and US pilots. Notable alliances include Late Night Alliance (Minmatar representatives during Alliance Tournament X) Ushra’ Kahn (one of the oldest alliances in the history of Eve) and Smile ‘n’ Wave (Russian alliance with active and skilled pilots)
The Amarr Militia: having no means of using the warzone to build their wallets or spend time farming LP they have for the last two months been using their time to plant spies, gather intel, grow their corps and alliances, devise new and ingenious methods of murder, and plan for the next major push. Most importantly though, they have been doing nothing but pvp for over 2 months. Some of the confirmed Amarr entities involved include, I Whip My Slaves Back And Forth* (Reddit’s FW alliance and CFC member), Team Amarrica (notably have taken all other Minmatar home systems previously), WINMATAR. (catalyst of the MInmatar civil war earlier this year before switching sides to Amarr)
*please note that as far as I know J4LP is not currently fully deployed into the war zone though they are involved and putting solid fleets out.
These two groups of pilots constantly working together with their respective allies and militias are locked in a mechanically perpetual war driven by isk and glory. To springboard and accelerate an Amarrian resurgence a high profile target was collectively decided by the leaders of the most recognised corporations and alliances within the Amarr militia.
With their sights firmly secured on the home system of over 1500 Minmatar pilots the gears of war started to grind early on monday morning. The system now sits at over 150 pilots at all times. Over 4000 ships have been destroyed in the first 48 hours alone, with brushfire battles and skirmishes bleeding into the nearby systems of Kourmonen and Lamaa.
Considering the proportions, after 48 hours the system has been see-sawing between Amarr and Minmatar control going as high as 42% contested and as low as 23%. With countless ships being spent to get it this far it is expected that upwards of 12,000 vessels could be destroyed by the time this system is captured and that is low-balling it. If the system is not captured by friday, the weekend carnage could prove to possibly double that number not to mention if this continues into next week.
I contacted some of the pilots, corp leaders and FCs involved and these are some of the responses I had:
Flyinghotpocket > fighting, can’t talk
Loryanna > busy pewing sry [quits convo]
Odysseus Olacar > shooting minnys [quits convo]
ez caper > fighting right now
Tristan daCuhna > in the middle of burn huola
Stalking Mantis > sure just not now
Major Trant > engaged atm [quits convo]
The string of one line answers I had even after explaining the reason for getting in contact tells me that the fighting in Huola is extremely intense right now.
At the time of writing this system sits at 200+ and the level of contest is 42%. With members from both sides, including pilots, corporations and alliances quickly appearing on the top ten Zkill (https://zkillboard.com/) lists. This will no doubt be one of the most major battles faction warfare has ever seen and possibly one of the most epic battles Eve has ever seen.
And it’s only been two days…
We got a couple videos of the carnage:
The Battle for Huola Rages On 070714
As the evening draws on, the tide begins to turn back in favor of the Amarr after a long night of struggling through a weaker timezone.
Inquisitor point of view in (annoyingly just under) 1080p. Not sure what’s up with that.
Expect: Questionable decision making, crushing of rebel scum
Do not expect: Expensive ships or super editingBURN HUOLA.
