If you'd like to discuss this dev blog or the contest, feel free to do so in this thread!

Prior to EVE Fanfest, we hosted a mousepad design contest, where players could directly have an impact on the offerings of the EVE Fanfest store as well as the online merchandise store, using EVE’s IP. The contest was incredibly well received and we received over 100 designs!

As we head toward an EVE Vegas event that is almost sold out already, we want to host another competition and allow you, the EVE Community, to have a direct and creative impact on what products will be offered in the EVE Vegas Merchandise store, and in the online merchandise Store online in the future too.

We’re happy to announce that we’re now opening a contest for pilots to submit their own poster designs to be printed and sold in the EVE Merchandise Store.

Of course, there are prizes on offer – not to mention fame, (or infamy depending on how good or bad your design is) – for whoever can create the best designs.

What are we looking for?

  • The final poster size is 18” x 24”. Designs should be 18.25"x 24.25" to ensure a full bleed.
  • The file resolution should be at least 300 Pixels Per Inch @ 100% Size.
  • We can accept Photoshop or Illustrator files.
  • All critical details should be within 17.75" x 23.75".
  • You can use 1 color up to full color, however, Color mode must be in CMYK to be a print ready file.

The design should consist of imagery that you think will resonate with our community of capsuleers and capture their imagination. The theme of the posters should be “propaganda-style EVE recruitment”.

Please bear in mind that for this competition, you can use EVE’s intellectual property in your designs.

The poster itself

The poster prints on 100 lb Gloss Text. The inks that print on the poster don’t do metallic or show a ton of brightness.

How do I enter?

All submissions should be sent to [email protected] with “EVE Online Poster Design Contest” as the subject. The contest runs from today, July 11th, through until the end of 31 July (UTC).

How will we choose winners?

A panel of CCP employees, including members from the EVE Online Development team, Community Team and Team TriLambda (our Art team) will then select the three best designs, which will win a selection of prizes.

Winners will be announced via community news item on 3 August.

The Prizes:

First Prize:

  • Your poster design sold at EVE Vegas and in the EVE Merchandise Store.
  • A copy of the poster (shipping included).
  • $100 store credit at the EVE Merchandise Store.
  • Signed Limited Edition of “The Art of New Eden”.
  • 6000 PLEX.

Second Prize:

  • $50 store credit at the EVE Merchandise Store.
  • Signed Limited Edition of “The Art of New Eden”.
  • 3000 PLEX.

Third Prize:

  • $50 store credit at the EVE Merchandise Store.
  • 1500 PLEX.
  • Signed hardcover edition of “The Art of New Eden”.

The Technical Part (sorry, the lawyers made us do it!):

This wouldn’t be a real contest without rules, so make sure you read the following before you enter. Please be aware that all our standard contest rules also apply.

Contest Rules:

  • You must be 18 years old or older to win.
  • No purchase is necessary to enter or win.
  • There is no limit on the number of designs you can submit, but you can only win one prize.

  • The final poster size is 18” x 24”. Designs should be 18.25"x 24.25" to ensure a full bleed.
  • The file resolution should be at least 300 Pixels Per Inch @ 100% Size. We can accept Photoshop or Adobe files.
  • All critical details should be within 17.75" x 23.75".

  • All designs submitted become the property of CCP and can be used in any way the company wants, forever, across all known and yet-to-be-invented media.
  • CCP is not responsible for lost, late, misidentified or misdirected entries, or computer performance, errors, delays or failures.
  • If, for any reason, the fairness or integrity of the contest is questioned, or CCP's administration or fulfillment of the contest becomes impracticable, CCP reserves the right to terminate or modify the contest, and to disqualify any individual who tampers with the registration process or the administration of the contest.
  • Any and all disputes arising out of, or in connection with this contest will be handled on an individual basis and in accordance with the laws of Iceland.
  • Contest void where prohibited or restricted by law, and all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
  • By submitting a design, you grant CCP the right to use your name for advertising and marketing purposes, without additional compensation, unless otherwise prohibited by law.
  • CCP may use your physical and/or e-mail address to contact you regarding CCP’s services and other offers and/or contests.
