CCP Seagull has recently announced on the EVE Online forums that she will be leaving CCP in the coming months, which is a position she has held since July 2014.
During her time at CCP she has spearheaded the development of a few major expansions such as Citadel, Ascension and Lifeblood. Alongside this there has been a few major milestones in EVE Online’s history during her tenure. These include the introduction of the free-to-play aspect of EVE Online, a variety of new ships, introduction and tweaks to the jump fatigue system and a wide range of small updates to individual aspects of the game.
In her statement she mentions that CCP Hilmar, the CEO of CCP Games, will be taking over the role whilst a replacement is found. From the Keynote announcement at Fanfest the focus of the current development appears to be more EVE Online orientated as there will no longer be a VR side project. This could indicate that possible candidates for the position may include the likes of CCP Fozzie, a well known game design developer.
From those of us at EN24 we wish her the best in the future and look forward to seeing what direction the game will take when the replacement, whoever they may be, takes the helm and helps to instigate further changes in the future.
