After six weeks of judging, the results are in. The Pod and Planet fiction contest has named its winners. We’re happy to bring you a taste of the winners’ gallery – the stories that won over 55 billion ISK in prizes. Judges included a wide variety of New Eden luminaries and CCP staffers.

It’s no secret that I’ve been waiting for this for a while. Now longtime contest-runner Telegram Sam has announced the results:

Congratulations, winning writers!  And congratulations to all writers!  You conceived your tales, reduced them into words, and crafted ideas into completed fiction works.  That alone is an accomplishment, I’d say.  Thanks for the good reading. In a day or two we’ll post an AAR with some stats and observations about this year’s event (various statistics, movement within the judging team, prizes distribution, trends and comparisons, that kind of thing).  o7!

A glimpse of a few top prizewinners:

Grand Prize – Djavak Andrard, “Flametender

“Strength, brother. Today we are true Matari,” Ulfric says, gesturing to the fresh tattoos on his face. The shaman’s needles hum as they etch similar marks into my flesh.

Eight Thousand Suns in New Eden (Lore-Based) – First Prize – Nomistrav, “Fractured

He could see his reflection in a specially placed mirror: a limbless torso strapped to the stand in the surrounding mist, preventing any hope of escape.

A Day in the Life (Freestyle) – First Prize – Korsavius, “Mariposa

I will make them all beautiful butterflies, one bullet at a time.

Other Things Just Make You Swear and Curse (Humo(u)r) – First Prize – Jorus Q Merrill, “A Royal Gift of Beans

His Majesty, King Ra the Turbulent, from his hidden throne deep in uncharted space, sends me to your court as an envoy of peace and fellowship.

The contest gave out a total of twenty-eight prizes, and a few stories earned multiple awards. Apart from the complete winners’ list, Pod and Planet has made this year’s contestants available to read, as well as entries from all previous years. Pod and Planet has given out hundreds of billions of ISK over the better part of a decade. I don’t know about you, but I’m down to start writing for next year.
