Low Sec Rumble: Amamake Free For All

October 5, 2015

Amamake system, Heimatar region. On the 4th of October at 19:00 EVE Standard Time, an event in the system drew hundreds of pilots into what has become one of the bloodiest battles in recent memory in Low Security space.

The event was organized by Citricioni of Stille Gewalt corporation, Dead Terrorists [IKILU], the purpose of which was to create content for players. Prizes were offered for each Carrier killed and though the region was announced beforehand, the actual location was kept under wraps to avoid participants getting intercepted en route by local entities. CCP however was notified in advance in order to reinforce the node.

At 19:00, the 5 Archon Carriers entered a large Minmatar military complex in the system of Amamake, joined by 2 Thanatos Carriers and the location was announced both in the original forum thread and on reddit. Quickly, fleets from across New Eden converged on the system, as well as dozens of hopefuls in small gangs and even individually.

Among those present was a League of Unaligned Master Pilots [LUMPY] Naga Battlecruiser fleet, a Shadow Cartel [SHDWC] Gila Cruiser fleet, an Imperium Harpy Assault Frigate fleet and a Dead Terrorists Proteus Strategic Cruiser fleet to name a few. The site of the event quickly deteriorated into utter chaos as the different fleets attempted to engage each other, the Carriers and other gangs and individuals that warped into the site, adding to the mayhem.

At this point Pandemic Legion [-10.0] arrived to the system, once again utilizing wormholes in order to burn from its staging in Delve to its ancestral home in a Proteus Strategic Cruiser fleet. Quickly entering the fray, Pandemic Legion forces managed to push the other fleets away, decimating both Dead Terrorists and Imperium fleets and forcing them to retreat.

League of Unaligned Master Pilots attempted to engage the Pandemic Legion forces a few times, with little success while Shadow Cartel’s Gilas maintained a healthy distance from the Pandemic Legion fleet. With all other threats dealt with, Pandemic Legion settled on top of the Carriers and started the long process of breaking their tank. In order to hasten it, four Dreadnoughts were brought into the complex.

Due to the distance of the Dreadnoughts form the main force and the lack of a support Carrier, one of the Dreadnought was quickly brought down by Shadow Cartel’s Gilas, resulting in its destruction as the other Dreadnoughts exited their siege cycles. By this point though, it didn’t matter as the Carriers quickly succumbed to the damage output of the Pandemic Legion fleet, going down in rapid succession.

With the last Carrier destroyed and the remaining Dreadnoughts extracted, Pandemic Legion claimed victory over the field, driving all other groups out. Thus, having brought the event to a close, Pandemic Legion forces safely extracted from the system, returning to their staging with little incident.

The Battle from the PoV of One of the Unaffiliated Pilots

Battle report for the Amamake system can be found here.

The battle lasted 90 minutes and saw more than 700 pilots at the peak of the fighting, with Time Dilation being felt throughout the engagement, though remaining around 20-50% most times.

With so many participants and confusion surrounding the event, an accurate tally is impossible. However, it seems that 292 ships were destroyed for a total of 47.57 Bil ISK damage including 7 Carriers, 1 Dreadnought, 30 Attack Battlecruisers, 17 Strategic Cruisers and the list goes on.
