CCP Announced back in 2013 (as part of the CCP Presents keynote) that plans were in the works to make an Eve Online Television Series with the pitch ‘Based on a true story, 20,000 years into the future.’
In the keynote, director Baltasar Kormákur (2 Guns and Everest) along with his creative team, announced they were part of the project. In the video he stated his intention was to ‘Honour the game, honour its players, and use your stories to create a TV series, and that way present the world of New Eden to hopefully millions of viewers.’
Shortly after that announcement the Eve True Stories site was set up to collect player stories. In part to collect anecdotes for the television series and in part for the Dark Horse comic books series.
With Kormákur involved in making the The Missionary and this years disaster thriller Everest not much news has come out about the progress of the Eve Television series.
Until now.
Yesterday Variety.com published an article reporting that Scott Free Productions was also involved in the project and is currently in talks with potential financiers to begin developing a plot for the series.
Scott Free Productions is a British film and television production company founded in the 70’s by the legendary Ridley Scott and his brother Tony Scott. The studio itself has an impressive film pedigree including blockbuster films such as Gladiator, Black Hawk down, Prometheus, and this years anticipated film The Martian. In addition, Scott Free Productions was also recently involved the Halo: Nightfall series available on the Halo Channel via XBOX One.
Given the early stages of the project it will probably still be some time before we see Eve hitting our television screens, but at least the reality is now one step closer.
