Low Sec Rumble: Cruis3rs Cr3w vs. Snuffed Out and Shadow Cartel

August 5, 2015

Heydieles system, Essence region. On the 4th of August at 3:44 EVE Standard time, forces belonging to Cruis3rs Cr3w [CR3W] clashed with Shadow Cartel [SHDWC] in a battle that quickly escalated into a full scale Capital engagement.

[CR3W] are a relatively new alliance which grew from a NPSI community. The alliance claims to inherit the mantle of resistance to [SHDWC] and the other more established Low Security space entities from the former Shekel Coalition which was comprised mainly of Overload Everything [OE] and Psychotic Tendencies [TISHU]. Both alliances faltered and disbanded due to internal discord and external pressure, leading their main corporations to join more established alliances such as Pandemic Legion [-10.0] and Northern Coalition. [NC] respectively.

[CR3W] have made the Ostingele system in the Placid region their capital, and been waging a war against the other Low Security powers in the neighboring regions, such as Snuffed Out [B B C] and [SHDWC]. August 4th, a roaming gang of [CR3W] numbering 40 pilots mostly flying Proteus Strategic Cruisers made its way to the Heydieles system as a reuslt of  having learned that both [B B C] and [SHDWC] were forming fleets as well. A large Capital force was put on reserve and the fleet reached the neighboring Indregulle system, as reports came of a [B B C] Battleship force, approximately 20 pilots camped on the other side of the Heydieles gate.

Both forces remained camped on the gate for a while when [CR3W] gave [B B C] an ultimatum; Either fight or be left behind. [B B C] commanders chose the former and jumped into the [CR3W] fleet. A brief battle ensued, as [CR3W] brought in 6 Capitals, anticipating an escalation from [B B C]. The assembled force broke the tank of the [B B C] Battleships and they chose to retreat, conceding the field to [CR3W].

Only a few minutes later and a [SHDWC] fleet took [B B C]’s position on the Indregulle gate. This time it was a Proteus fleet, estimated between 20-30 pilots. The [CR3W] fleet decided this time to jump into their enemies, and a brawl ensued. Both sub-capital forces could not break each other, but [CR3W] had Capitals, including several Triage Carriers present on the field. [SHDWC] decided to get rid of them and quickly brought in 8 Capitals of their own, mainly Dreadnoughts. It was the moment [CR3W] Fleet Commanders were waiting for. A cynosural beacon was lit and more Dreadnoughts were brought forth.

However, this turned to be a counter trap sprung by [SHDWC]. While the [CR3W] Dreadnoughts entered siege and started burning down the [SHDWC] Capitals, [SHDWC] brought in their own Super Carriers. No less than 10 of them entered the system and unleashed their swarm of fighter bombers. The [CR3W] sub-capitals attempted to destroy as many of those as possible, but the cloud of drones chewed through the [CR3W] Capitals quickly, decimating nearly the entire force. Without Capital support and facing the [SHDWC] force, [CR3W] Fleet Commanders decided to withdraw, conceding the field to [SHDWC].

Battle report for the Heydieles system can be found here.

The two engagements took a total of 10 minutes from start to finish, with local never rising above 150 pilots and Time Dilation not reported as a major issue.

[B B C] forces lost 7 ships, all of which were Battleships, for a total of 5 Bil ISK damage. [SHDWC] lost 9 ships, including 6 Dreadnoughts for a total of 21.41 Bil ISK. [CR3W] lost 19 ships, including 10 Dreadnoughts and 4 Carriers, for a total of 38.9 Bil ISK damage.

Apparently both [B B C] and [CR3W] declined to use their own Super Carriers in the fights as each entity thought the other had a temporary alliance with [SHDWC], a common practice between Low Security space entities for fights. Thus a much larger, and possibly costlier battle was avoided between the three.

It seems that things are heating up once again in Low Security space, as [CR3W] attempts to wage a crusade against [SHDWC] and [B B C], both well entrenched and strong Low Security alliances. Whether they succeed in dislodging them or end up as their predecessors is up to anyone’s guess.
