On June 16th, CCP presented more Valkryie footage at this years E3 conference in Los Angeles, California. CCP CEO Hilmar introduced viewers to what will be one of the first virtual reality [VR] games available when the technology hits the market in early 2016. EVE Valkyrie is now in pre-alpha with a limited group of select EVE players.
Here is a look at new game-play footage. Note the warp drive effect, target locking, salvage drones at work and the and space wreckage. You might also catch a fighter crashing into a Megathron and exploding (frame 1:40).
The E3 publicity has been a success for CCP, with positive articles like PCGamer’s, “EVE: Valkyrie continues to impress with new footage.” Microsoft featured Valkyrie footage when referring to their Oculus, creating the impression that EVE’s universe will be one of the premiere worlds to “live in” when VR hits.
A fantastic new and upcoming space combat game called EVE Valkyrie is stepping on unknown territory by fully integrating VR technology into the gaming experience. “Oculus Shows Flagship Games Like Space Shooter EVE Valkyrie” reported TechCrunch. Even though Oculus helped create EVE Valkyrie, the game will be available on Sony’s Morpheus.
The hype is starting to grow for both VR and Valkyrie. Hopefully they will become synonymous with each other, and introduce more people to the wonders of New Eden.
