N3 and CFC clash in Aridia

February 23, 2015

NCDOT, Darkness. and The Kadeshi, as N3 for the Delve area, gathered just after downtime to attack a Dysprosium moon (R64) POS in Aridia (Ajna system). The CFC, having granted support to LowSechnaya Sholupen, were there to help stop them, and stop them they did.

The CFC Ishtars (50-60) sat inside Ajna, waiting. N3 Ravens (90-100) and logistical support, including 1 triage carrier, jumped in Anja from Ahraghen and warped to the station, grouped up and then warped at range to the Ishtars that had landed late on the gate from which the N3 fleet entered. The CFC set up, and deployed their sentry drones as N3 Ravens came out of warp.

The fight was on.

Initially, as alpha fights usually begin, the FCs tested their dps potency at clearing enemy pilots off the field, testing the opposing logistical capabilities. A lone Maulus flown by Ijet Veran of Goonswarm kept dampening the N3 FC, reducing the his ability to effectively call targets. When an FC cannot target lock to see how much damage is being applied to his selected targets, it throws off his ability to orchestrate the combat. The N3 FC, at that point, tried to untangle himself, and called free-fire on drones to reduce the CFC’s firepower while he got sorted.

In an unfortunate move for N3, the logistical chief of the logi pilots flew too close to the enemy sentry drones in an attempt to repair an ailing Scorpion battleship that had called for repairs. In seconds, the entire logistical wing was annihilated, rolled up in reverse order: From tertiary, to secondary, to primary, the logi anchors were cleared, sending the remnants of the logi wing struggling for a new anchor. That may have been precise meta-spying or flat out luck, but logi pilots were unable to recover. N3’s repair powers were gone, with the exception of the lone Kadeshi triage Chimera.

With no logistics the FC had to quickly asses attrition rates for both sides before he decides to continue. The CFC had changed their focus to the Chimera and were breaking it despite its protective triage mode, so N3, again, tried to kill drones to reduce the heat of incoming dps, but that race was a lost cause.

N3 was unable to put up enough dps to consistently break the CFC logistic support, and there was a possible reason for that:

Just as the N3 fleet had entered the fight in Anja, two NCDOT titans jumped into a nearby system to “drive by” a pair of carriers. One of the titans was tackled by LowSechnaya Sholupen. NCDOT supers were scrambled to free the titan while the subcapital Ravens were engaged in combat in a completely different system. Many of those pilots of those supers were ‘dual boxing,’ loading up 2 or more clients with separate accounts and ships, so some of those Raven pilots were not at the helm, preferring instead to focus on their more expensive ships embroiled in their attempt to free the titan.

NCDOT shot themselves in the foot, and left The Kadeshi and Darkness. weaker for it on this occasion. Once the Kadeshi Chimera fell to the CFC, the N3 FC retreated and chalked it up to bad logistical decisions. The fight was over.

A few hours later NCDOT returned and destroyed the tower, but not without having a 6.7 billion bite taken out of them by the defenders, LowSechnaya Sholupen.* (updated)

Battle Reports:

Ajna (CFC vs N3)

Tisot (Titan Tackled)

Ajna (NCDOT vs LowSechnaya Sholupen)

* It has been clarified in the comments that the second tower was in fact a different tower in the same system, Ajna.
