So with Day 3 all wrapped up and the notes now available, the CSM’s time in Iceland for the Winter Summit now comes to a close. For me, this day has been the one I’ve been most interested in. However, the topics I really wanted to hear more about are censored by the NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement). Some of the points covered here will create some fantastic tin-foil-hattery at least.

Lowsec

This session opened with a presentation to CCP regarding feedback; the CSM then went on to discuss a variety of topics pertaining to lowsec.

  • CCP has received mostly positive feedback regarding lowsec post-phoebe.
  • Lowsec population dwindled over the summer but has since rebounded.
  • Lowsec mining is at an all-time low, but prone to sporadic changes.
  • CSM and CCP have been discussing lowsec mining changes privately on the forums. No details were included in the notes.
  • During Kronos, there was an increase in NPC deaths before dropping back a little.
  • Militia numbers are on the increase, and Factional Warfare numbers are also increasing.
  • “Kill per logon minute” is increasing… it means more things are dying.
  • CCP confirm that they’ve reduced the amount of combat anomalies in lowsec to reduce “clutter”.
  • CCP are looking at the way fighters are assigned, particularly who gets the aggro in situations where fighters are assigned. CCP Fozzie stated they are looking at overall fighter usage.
  • At this stage there are no plans to make missions have an effect on a Faction Warfare warzone, as they are too farmable and need reworked.
  • CCP assured the CSM that items gathered from hacking sites are not “junk” and will be useful at some point.

Ship/Module balance

This session was designed to primarily discuss feedback regarding current module changes but there are some very interesting points about future development.

  • CCP agreed that Tengus are too strong at the moment and are penciled-in for a rebalance in the next few months.
  • A desire for a more customizable T3 was mentioned.
  • CCP wish to remove “lock-in” from rigs on T3 cruisers.
  • EHP Subsystems are to be toned down.
  • CCP believes medium rails are also too powerful.
  • CCP is considering a delayed drone reload system (a drone nerf).
  • CCP has no concrete plans for supercapitals, but would like to avoid deleting them and refunding SP.
  • CCP has put serious consideration into removing “fleet warp”, but nothing had been decided.

Localisation:

Localisation generally refers to language translation for clients.

  • Last year’s largest project was the release of Eve in French.
  • A French podcast is being worked on.
  • No plans for further language translation, however the team are focusing on consolidating their existing work.
  • CCP is working on a bilingual functionality which allows ingame links posted in one language to be translated to the client language for the recipient user.

Structures:

Sadly a lot of this session was restricted by the NDA (Non Disclosure Agreement) and CCP chose to include a picture of this cat in its stead.

24-01-2015-01-08-58-3c57

Only two real points could be extracted from this section.

  • CCP presented some designs for structure changes, nothing specific listed.
  • CCP’s desire to make the new structures integrate better with gameplay.

Sovereignty and Nullsec

Another NDA restricted section here; CCP took the opportunity to advertise some pubs they like.

  • Again, CCP is happy with feedback from post-Phoebe changes, this time in regards to nullsec.
  • There is clearly a new work-in-progress sovereignty design but we’re not allowed to know anything about it yet.

Eve Merchandise

This section briefly discussed some tangible items you may be able to get your sweaty space mittens on, in addition to the team’s desire to make you really want the merchandise. I’d have recommended a “Can I Bring a Drake?” T-Shirt however my suspicion is that it will be pretty space pictures.

  • “Art of New Eden” book to go on sale in March.
  • The Eve TV series is progressing but nothing new can be announced.
  • CCP say it is too early to confirm any specifics about the TV series.

So there we have it folks, all nicely wrapped up . On behalf of myself and EN24, I’d like to thank CCP once again for making these notes available so quickly.

“CCP assured the CSM that items gathered from hacking sites are not “junk”

Might stop skipping hacking sites and hang on to all that junk. Just fyi ccp, all those items are currently junk until you decide to use them.

  • Noisrevbus

    – CCP agreed that Tengus are too strong at the moment and are penciled-in for a rebalance in the next few months.

This seems awfully familiar, doesn’t it? /o

    • Billbo

And CCP have just sewn their own demise…..

    • Ogast

      Soontm

    • Gamerguy

Time for Tengus to become worthless so you can spend another 3 months training for something else.

      • Eve is dying….

CCP Destroying this game brick by brick…Pull the wrong one CCP and watch it all come tumbling down…Star Citizen !!!

        • Svalbard is not a real place.

Tengu is OP but Ishtar is fine. Woop woop, balance team gogogo

  • Sorrowsbane

    Nice pussy

This is a very interesting comment

Getting rid of fleet warps sounds like a terrible idea. Why not try giving bonuses for mixed fleet comp fleets? If your fleet is made up of 100 of the same hac type no bonus should be given but if you have frigs desis cruisers bs all in one fleet bonuses should be given to make it worth the risk. Try to find a way to end cookie cutter fleets! Reward fleets that bring lower sp

    • Provi Miner

or come to provi kitchen sink is alive and well

  • Speedy

Tengus are op, but no mention of ishtars and bombers which are even more overpowered?

    • Codo

You cant cry about Ishtars, they have a low enough tank they are just kiting ships

      • Iz

Nope sorry. They have range and they’re actually useful they must be nerfed lol

      • Amarth

The problem with is that eveyone and their mother in Ishtars Online are using them. It is making pvp incredibly boring with every single alliance using pretty much the same doctrine, same fit, same drones. I don’t know of a single big alliance in EVE that don’t use an Ishtar doctrine. Ishtar is the new drake. They need a heavy nerf so that we can fly something else. I’ve been flying ishtars for well over a year and I’m really sick and tired of them, they are just making the game boring for everyone.

    • OMGoutrage

      CCP hates Caldari, remember?

    • Me

Yes, OP! Basically, if it works at all in any sort of application them it must be broken right?

  • Dick Hauser

Hope the NDA covers something more interesting than “nerf the current meta”…

If CCP only adjusts things back and forth every 6 weeks they will lose players instead of gaining them.
Rails are OP? Well guess who buffed them…. Tengus are OP?
Trying to chase w/e ship is the flavor of the month with your training queue is going to be a pain.

What is it that Fozzie actually does over there? His name seems to come up every time there is a bad decision.

  • Bawk Bawkbagawk

“CCP assured the CSM that items gathered from hacking sites are not “junk”
and will be useful at some point” much like the door in your CQ. lol

  • AFK

So T3s did exactly what people said they would and became OP and obsoleted other specialised ships.

  • AFK

    Serious questions to CCP about ishtar;

    1. Why is it 5/5 med/low? Why does it have an armor trait when it almost always makes sense to shield tank?
    2. Why is this HAC “recommended for frontline brawling” when it is always found hundreds of km from the frontline?
3, Why is it allowed a battleship weapons, why are sentries not split into small/med/large when every other sniping weapon class is?

    • LSM

Sentries are BS weapons. just the rest of the drones are shit

    • Angry young man

STOP FUCKING TRYING TO GET CCP TO BREAK EVERYTHING.. PRETTY SOON WE WILL ALL BE SAT SHOOTING CIVILIAN AUTOCANNONS AT EACH OTHER. MAN UP FAGGOT

  • CaptainCommonsense

Cool cat. Best part of the whole article.

  • Provi Miner

tengus op? now wonder we don’t fly them often after all we in provi want to make sure everyone has a fair chance

  • Candyman

… any of the truly good pubs in Reyk are also NDA… that’s just CCP sending the less astute to the “touristy” places… it’s like the “less clutter” policy, listed above, for Low Sec. 😛
