Shadow Cartel Take Down Cynosural Field Theory. Supers in Vestouve

January 19, 2015

On the evening of the 18th January 2015 in the Vestouve system of Placid a group of T1 battleships, assorted support and a couple of roaming carriers from the Shadow Cartel alliance decided to try and provoke a fight from long time rivals and ex-members of Overload Everything, and their friends in Psychotic Tendencies. They decided the way to do this was to sit on the OE station undock and see what happened. Overload Everything, who were mostly AFK watching American NFL, undocked a couple of HIC’s to mess with the SHDWC carriers but didn’t really commit to a fight.

Instead of getting a fight from Overload Everything a third alliance was also watching the gang on the undock, Nocturnal Romance, of Cynosural Field Theory. alliance. NoC had just finished messing around with a load of russians where they had made a 80km slow burn to extract a number of their super capital assets while being tackled and webbed the entire way. Not a fun way to spend a Sunday afternoon, so they were pretty bored and ready for a fight.

A NoC cyno went up and a group of supercapitals, triage carriers and a Avatar class Titan jumped in to Vestouve, on top of the SHDWC and OE gangs who were fencing on the undock.

I spoke to TinkerHell, CEO of Nocturnal Romance, about the fight and what happened1259355159_256.

Noc was bored, we had spent an hour tackled on a gate by a gang of russians with 100km points and webs. We had literally just slowboated 80km at 12ms to the gate in our gang of 8 carriers.

I was then given intel by OE/Tishu that there was a shadow cartel gang in Vestouve with 3 carriers.

Being bored we thought fuck it and jumped our 7 Nyxs and 1 avatar on top of the 3 carriers on station. OE then undocked HICs ontop of us being the Avatar had DDed, so we told the Avatar pilot not to DD, and focused on getting it out. If OE had waited there would of been 3 titans on field.

We then killed some HICs, but being on top of OEs station we basically had to kill every HIC in vestouve to escape. Eventually when we decided we had been on field long enough we ecm bursted and saved what Nyxs we could. Also we were losing fighters at a rapid pace towards the end so couldnt kill the HICs on field.

All in all, the fight lasted a long time, the TiDi didn’t seem like a problem even though local reached 200. So it wasn’t bad and could of ended up a lot worse for us.

Cybus Max who is one of the FC’s for Shadow Cartel and the person leading the roam that triggered the fight had this to say on a popular forum;1644513477_256

One of our SC Guys came back to the game, so we decided to do a carrier suicide roam to Vestouve (home of Overload Everything). We brought 3 carriers and a load of t1 BS as support.

The roam to Vestouve was uneventful however when we got to Vestouve we warped our carriers to their station and started aggressing, to try and convince OE to fight us, a cyno then goes up and a large number of Nocturnal Romance (NoC) supers and capitals come in, including 1 Avatar.

Instead of just giving up and accepting the losses of 3 carriers, I called for us to jump in and warp to the station and start priming a moros. While that was happening I started screaming at Doom in a private channel to undock Hics and start pointing supers, which they did.

We then started rage pinging for more guys, more hics, more supers, more everything.

So we managed to get everyone into one fleet and got a load of SC hics bridged down and started getting serious tackle on their supers, the avatar managed to jump out, however NoC still had multiple supers and a lot of carriers still on field.

At this point it was only a matter of time we started neuting and primarying anything in siege/ triage while organizing supers of our own to get there.

Once both SC and OE supers were on field their carriers started dying pretty quick, and once the majority were clear we burned down 3 supers 1 after another, as everything not tackled jumped out. (NoC managed to kill A LOT of our hics hence why majority of the supers got away)

Overall a great fight, thanks to NoC for balls of steel, shame it didn’t pay off this time, cheers to OE for fleeting up with us.

GFs all round

I then managed to get hold of Doomchinchilla, CEO of Overload Everything.578639263_256

Cybus got in contact with me (SC’s FC for the fight) and asked if we wanted to help them since they lost their logi (the carriers), so I pinged for hictors and guardians. Apparently that gets people’s attention pretty fast. We lost some hictors because fighters hurt, also we weren’t all in the same fleet until 5 – 10 minutes in the same fleet with logi and hictors.

Nocturnal was able to get enough hictors killed and ecm bursts combined to help 3 – 4 of their supers and the titan escape. (Once again, this wasn’t planned… we didn’t know what was coming or wasn’t coming in). I rage pinged for our supers, we logged in. SC moved their supers, and we started making short work of the dreads and carriers then onto the Supers. The first 2 went down super fast then the 3rd took some time as nocturnal jumped spider tanking carriers in… but it eventually died.

Personally the best part of the fight was working with old friends. As much as the propaganda and bad blood between OE and SC, I’d like to think we can make up and still be friends. This is how lowsec should work. One day you’re working with someone the next, you’re shooting them. No hard feelings, no insults, just good, fun fights.
Also the tidi wasn’t that bad. The fighter bomber scan res nerf was able to be seen in that fight. We’d primary a carrier than have to wait 10 – 20 seconds for the first volley… waiting sucks.

o7, Shoutout to Nocturnal for bringing it and Shadow Cartel for the content being provided. Here’s to a brighter lowsec.

The saying ‘the enemy of my enemy is my friend’ held true in this instance. When shiny killmails are to be had old prejudices can be put aside and many good things can happen. Whether or not the bad blood between certain members of Overload Everything and Shadow Cartel can be overlooked in the long term is still open to debate, but this is the first time that they have worked together for this type of fight. Like doomchinchilla said in his reply, this is one of the great things about low security space. One day you can be fighting alongside a group like Overload Everything when your goals are aligned. The next day you could be shooting them in the face with relish. Low sec is all about the good fights and long may it continue.

Full battle report of the fight can be found here and here is a video of the fight from the Shadow Cartel side.

Also of mention was the almost three billion ISK NoC pod that was caught by Merk Stainz of Overload Everything in his smartbombing proteus three jumps out of Vestouve. Thats got to hurt no matter how much ISK you have in the bank.

All in all Cynosural Field Theory lost nearly 110 billion ISK in this fight, which included three of their Nyx supercapitals, four dreadnaughts and eight carriers.

Meanwhile the combined forces of OE, TISHU and SHDWC lost a grand total of around 16 billion ISK which included a couple of the SHDWC carriers, numerous T1 Battleships and a small wing of HIC cruisers which tried to keep the NoC superscaps in place while support was called in.
