CSM X – The Campaign Trail Starts And How To Follow

January 15, 2015

Yesterday, the ever hard working CCP Leeloo published a Dev Blog detailing the CSM process for this year, and also included some interesting retrospectives from the current electorate of the Council Of Stellar Management (a.k.a CSM)

You can read the full blog here.

For those of you who may not know what the CSM is, CCP Leeloo writes in her blog:

‘The Council of Stellar Management is a democratically elected body of fourteen EVE Online players who are chosen annually by the EVE Community and represent various demographics within New Eden.

Council members are in constant contact with the EVE Online dev team in order to have a front line, up to date view on features and improvements that are currently being developed for EVE. They are also responsible for bringing the opinions, concerns, suggestions and ideas of their constituents to CCP for consideration. They sign a non-disclosure agreement so we can bring even more ideas to them, many of which we may not take beyond the initial design phases.’

In essence, its CCP’s very own focus group for which the players vote in representatives who best match their ideals.

As per usual, the election results for the CSM will be announced at this years FanFest in Iceland, unusually it is a bit earlier than usual due to this years CSM/Fanfest coinciding with a solar eclipse in Iceland. The important dates are:-

  • January 30th 2015 – CSM X Candidacy Period opens
  • February 15th 2015 – CSM X Candidacy Period closes
  • February 25th 2015 – CSM X Election – Voting opens
  • March 10th 2015 – CSM X Election – Voting closes
  • March 21st 2015 – CSM X Results announced during CCP Presents Keynote at Fanfest 2015

Long before the first phase of the CSM period there already have been a number of candidates throwing their hat into the ring. For some the campaign trail to be elected has been running for months and in this CSM series we will be covering as many of the candidates as possible during the election process.

The best place to start looking into this year candidates, read their election pitch and to pick up the campaign trail is the Jita Park Speakers Corner section of the Eve Online forums which you can visit by clicking here.

For those of you who prefer to listen rather than read then you can catch up via podcast on the Cap Stable Podcast by following this link, where, following from last year, they have once again set out to record interviews with as many CSM candidates as possible. With four interviews up already, they are looking to be one of the best places to get CSM candidate news in an easy to listen to package.

With some 35 candidates announcing their intentions so far this year is looking to be a hotly contested one.
