The new year hasn’t been with us for long and already the first titan of the year is on the killboards and the kill goes to Snuff Box of Snuffed Out alliance along with Only For Fun alliance. EmoKidWithKantana was kind enough to link me to this rundown on what happened.
So we have been keeping an eye on an angry Russian living around Aununen for a few days, mostly because he has been dropping his Leviathan on JF’s coming out of a station with a bad undock direction in regards to the systems highsec gate.
We have previously tried to bait him and been less successful, but seeing how Hunlight was along this time to hold our hands, we were more hopeful.
Knowing what would tickle the titan pilots fancy, we had one of our OFF-friends jump a JF in and loiter on station. Titan pilot appears in local, appears on scan, and appears on grid. Mortvvs sorts a warp-in, pops a cyno and we bridge in the HIC’s and some random support who in turn manage to point the fucker-
With point confirmed we bring in the dreads and start applying the DPS. At this point the titan-pilot is sensible enough to realize he is fucked, and spite-DD’s one of our Moroses, however seeing how the leviathan in question was untanked he melts and pops soon after.
We in turn loot what little of value dropped before leaving the field
The ‘Angry Russian’ in question was Komarkh of blabla… member of the A.A.A.A.A alliance.
Not only was this titan kill the first of 2015 but it also makes for quite the comedy killmail because the fit is absolutely awful. Most people would say that a Leviathan should have an X-type tank in the mids, torps and a doomsday in the highs with fitting modules/damage modules in the lows. However this pilot seems to think that squeezing the most lock time out of the ship was the way to go, forfeiting any tank apart from the rigs and a Damage Control II.
I love the fact that the Titan went down swinging when the writing was on the wall and used the doomsday to take down a Snuff dreadnaught. This mechanic, which is new to low-sec, is a good thing and we have seen it used a number of times now when a titan pilot is going down they will now generally try to take at least one of the attacking force’s capitals with them. I also want to highlight a certain ship on the Leviathan killmail – SmarncaV2, who not only managed to get a ‘yes’ to the question of ‘can i bring a drake?’ then proceeded to out-damage a dreadnaught and a couple of Redeemers.
I received a short email from the titan pilot, Komarkh about his loss and he had this to say;
Hi there, I was quietly dropping on JF when suddenly a purifier light a cyno. Sadly was titan was already bump by the station (yes the titan have really heavy size). And i was unable to warp out (less than 30s at 0m/s). I hotdropped too much at the same place :p so, brb farming.
