The fight between N3 and the Russians in the south is heating up, frequency of fights is increasing, and the use of heavy assets more commonplace.
Today saw the use of a supercarrier wing on both sides, with mixed results.
I caught up with the N3 FC to get the scoop on what happened.
(12:53:31 AM) Guderian3: had like 70 dudes, rattlesnakes and such, had intel they were forming. So we waited for them to form, and they put up a sizeable fleet and we had pretty similar battleship numbers. Waited till they got into system, then cynoed in. They warped to us, and we jumped in our triage. They immediately escalated with dreads, and pretty quickly took down our triage. We had been killing their bs pretty well, but once our triage was down it took a turn for the worse. We didn’t really get our supers in quick enough
Guderian3 went on to tell me how this fight was a POS timer, and that the Russians warped their supers in at 100km, ensuring their safety. The Russians had a solid subcapital fleet with adequate logistics backed by a healthy dreadnought fleet, and they were set up in system first.
The delay from N3 in landing supers on field, allowed the Russian dreads to burn through the N3 triage carriers, ensuring the subcap victory for the aggressors.
The two fleets of dreadnoughts were caught in a knife fight. Point blank range, exchanging kills on either side in a mad dash to down the enemies firing line first.
Eventually, the capitals on both sides stabilized, both sides tanking the incoming DPS, or working on extraction. With the tower killed, and a surprise Nyx kill the Russians extracted off field first, and the N3 forces warped off to a friendly POS to recoup.
Guderian had this to say:
(12:54:44 AM) Guderian3: we knew it would be a tough fight, but I guess we under-estimated just how much they brought
The nyx loss in itself is actually not overly spectacular. According to pilots in fleet with him, he broadcast for reps when he was about 50% armour, and was unable to be saved from the combined fire of the Russian capital and subcapital fleets.
I certainly will be keeping a closer eye on Esoteria over the winter holidays.
(12:56:37 AM) Guderian3: well played to the Russians though, they were well-organized
