AND SO IT BEGINS

November 6, 2014

“And so it begins”, a phrase you will undoubtedly hear again and again over the next couple of weeks ringing throughout New Eden. Will fortune favor the bold? Will brazen new alliances be forged and grow with visions of space ownership dancing in their heads?

In anticipation of the patch while the slumbering giants idly napped in their beds, Phoebe Freeport Republic under the direction of Coelomate made a bold move attacking and successfully taking sov in Etherium Reach System WPV-JN.

Coelomate, CEO and Executor was kind enough to offer a small insight into how this all happened and what transpired.

NaNNeR HaMMeR > Have you all been planning this for a while, and have you made any attempts at diplomacy with other potential groups looking to seize space?

Coelomate > Almost no planning – this graph tells the whole story, the idea popped into my head showering just before the first members you see here: http://i.imgur.com/8d4AjUT.png
We’ve been doing some fast diplomacy with groups in the area, but almost nobody took us seriously until, well, we shat out TCUs faster than they shat out DPS, and honestly, they don’t necessarily “take us seriously” now.

NaNNeR HaMMeR > What kind of numbers did you see on either side of the fight, and how long did it take to grind the TCU?

Coelomate > We’ve had 40 in fleet for unsuccessful attempts, but last night actually were under that when grinding down the TCU. It took, well it took quite a while. The real fun though was the ping-pong after – we lost a TCU to dreads, but then dropped several more just before down time. Also a lot of on the fly learning happened with emergencies getting enough characters with roles, haulers, TCUs, and proper corp/alliance setups under the nose of the hostile caps and subcaps bashing our initial TCUs

Coelomate > There’s another group doing similar things in Etherium Reach and fighting very similar battles – Mostly Hammered. You can see a blip of their sov on the map from last night now too 🙂

Only time will tell if the brazen new alliances popping up to take space will be able to hold and expand their footholds into null ownership. What will happen when larger more organized alliances decide to take a stab at it as well? One thing is for sure, change is here.
