Battle Report: Intaki Throwdown – SHDWC vs SNUFD vs 8URNT

October 27, 2014

Late in the EU timezone on the 26th October 2014 and into the early morning of the 27th, a fight went down in Intaki which included arguably the three biggest purely low-sec alliances, Shadow Cartel (SHDWC), Snuff Box (SNUFD) and relative newcomers Overload Everything (8URNT).

Overload Everything, created by ex-Shadow Cartel corporations Collapsed Out, Doughboys and The Generic Pirate Corporation and led by DoomChinChilla, decided to destroy a couple of POS in Brarel and then moved on to a Snuff Box POS in Intaki.

SNUFD had been doing some small scale capital ganking in another region so had to burn home to reform. This meant they lost the POS’s in Brarel, though reformed in time to defend their Intaki POS. Forming up in a Machariel fleet with a couple of T3’s and Guardian support against a 8URNT and Psychotic Tendencies fleet of shield Ishtar’s with Scimitar support.

The SNUFD fleet landed at a good range from the Ishtar Fleet and alpha’d an Ishtar off the field. The Ishtar fleet then disengaged and warped away.

8URNT then upshiped to their T3 fleet with Guardian support and warped back into the Machariel fleet and manage to get onto the SNUFD fleet at o. This could of gone badly for the SNUFD fleet, if the T3’s had managed to stay under the guns of the Machariels and use their small signature radius to give some serious tracking issues.

However poor pointing by the 8URNT fleet meant that most of the Machariels managed to burn to range. Neither fleet were able to make much headway, both Logistic cores are holding well so SNUFD switched to the Guardians and managed to take a couple out.

Then SHDWC arrived on the scene in their Navy Apocalypse fleet with Guardian support and managed to Alpha through a Guardian and a Machariel and showing the raw damage of the NavPocs. In return SHDWC lost a Guardian, who for some reason decided not to anchor up and sat immobile and was easy prey for the SNUFD Machariel Fleet. Again the fight started to slow down as all the individual fleets had pulled range and had their logi support up and running.

At this point 8URNT managed to get a warp in at 0 on the SHDWC Navpocs and started brawling them down, while SNUFD took pot shots from range. SHDWC lost a few ships and the 8URNT guys disengaged again.

SNUFD and SHDWC continued exchanging long range shots but ultimately SHDWC disengaged and sacrificed a couple of tackled NavPocs to get the rest of the fleet out, however as they had already managed to take down at least twelve T3’s, a couple of Battleships/Logi support and two dreads that were on field, it seemed like a great trade for Shadow Cartel. While this was happening, 8URNT again reformed their fleet and came in with three Archons and a large battleship fleet consisting mostly of Navy Apocs.

8URNT landed and immediately put one of their Archons into Triage while trying to pick off SNUFD Machariels from range. SNUFD engaged back, and dropped Cyno jammers and a couple of supercapitals that quickly take down the 8URNT Archons. A 8URNT Devoter landed at range but failed to capture any of the, now leaving, supercapitals.

The Cyno jammers dropped by SNUFD turned out to be very useful as 8URNT called in a group of TISHU carriers that had been on standby. Due to the jammers they had to cyno in at range which let the Machariels get off the field and hot foot it back to Sujurento.

SNUFD then formed a HIC/Guardian gang and jumped back through the gate and warped to their scout. Tackle is called on 5 of the TISHU carriers and SNUFD brings in it’s Dread, Triage and combat carriers to take them down.

8URNT had rereformed into a large HIC/Guardian gang of their own and tried to point as many SNUFD dread as they could, managing to get 4 of them tackled. Not wanting to lose the fight like this SNUFD brought in some more Triage Archons to keep the tackled Dreads alive.

At this point, SHDWC, who had been watching the fight from a cloaky alt, contacted SNUFD and offered assistance in getting the 8URNT HIC’s off the SNUFD Dreads and formed up in shield Ishtars with Scimi support.

They landed at the same time as the SNUFD combat carriers come back in and start using their fighters to clear tackle. The HIC’s from 8URNT start falling like flys, even though they have twenty logistic cruisers trying to keep them alive. The Dreads managed to jump out and the remaining 8URNT fleet warp out and cut their losses.

All in all Snuff Box came out best in that fight, having lost the tower but managing to get another down before 8URNT could. They also only lost one Machariel (SmarncaV2’s, which I know SHDWC were happy about) and a Guardian throughout the entire sequence of events and then managed to hold the field, with Shadow Cartels assistance.

Shadow Cartel lost nine ships in the fight for a total of just over 4.1 billion ISK which included two Navy Apocalypse, a Megathron Navy Issue along with a few Ishtar’s and Guardians.

The Overload Everything/TISHU gang lost the most and were the clear losers of the fight, losing seven Archons and two dreads. Then include the subcap losses of fourteen of their tier 3’s, consisting mostly of Legions and Proteus, three of their Guardian logistic cruisers and five Heavy Interdiction Cruisers that tried to hold the Snuff Box dreads. This amounts to just over 36.7 billion ISK lost for the 8URNT/TISHU gang.

Fixed Battle Report can be found here.

A number of those involved took to the EvE Reddit and said what a great fight it was and that they are looking forward to do it again. Now that these three alliances live just a stone throws from each other, Shadow Cartel, after a recent move from Avenod ar now in Aeschee, Snuff Box in Sujarento and Overload Everything in Agoze, we could see some big time power struggles in this area.

Also once Phoebe hits, expect each group to use there capital assets less and focus more on their sub capital fleets. They will need to think strategically and decide which fights to escalate and which not to.
