Battle Report: Easily Excited/Surely You’re Joking vs Black Flag Society + allies

June 2, 2014

There was a defensive POS timer for Easily Exited in Pemsah (Aridia Region) triggered by Black Flag Society bombers, compelled a form up, as Black Flag Society numbers climbed above 50 in their staging system.

Usurper. alliance was seen to cyno suitcases into Fihrneh (Aridia) and join Black Flag Society numbers as well. All signs indicated a fight would take place in the very near future. With a few mins left to go on the timer, and no sign of a Black Flag Society doctrine, the defender’s FC ordered Supers logged in along with Capitals to undock. The Black Flag Society eyes noticed this and within minutes watchlists of known hostile/batphone Supers began to light up. As per usual, Black Flag Society had phoned for help, despite having numbers up. Convinced the hook was in the water, a downship to T3s/Guards was ordered and preparations were made to bridge.

The hostiles meanwhile undocked their own AHAC/T3/HIC comp also with guards for logi and some ewar. Instead of bridging to the destination RF’ed POS, they slow-boated. This presented a unique opportunity, but the timing would have to be perfect. Entry Cyno was in position in the destination system, as were several BFS scouts. The friendly stage and titan were also under hostile surveillance so Black Flag Society knew the comp, as was the battlespace, or so BFS thought.

As the Hostile fleet entered the last system before their destination, the EE/SYJ entry cyno, close to the gate, lit and the gang bridged in, aligning to hostile in-gate, warping to zero shortly thereafter, logi at range. The timing was perfect, suddenly gatecamp. The BFS/USURP gang jumped in, and apparently uninformed by their recon team that A) hostiles had bridged, and B) they had just jumped into a meatgrinder.

Black Flag Society was caught with their pants down Their long range setups had trouble coping with the SYJ/EE DPS boats at close range, so they went for the guardian group, one after another EE/SYJ guards died. EE/SYJ target calling was a bit of everything to start, then an emphasis on DPS, and ultimately shiny T3s. BFS however focused on the guardians, so it became a race to see if the EE/SYJ DPS could break the remaining BFS reps and remove DPS faster than BFS could remove EE/SYJ reps. Both sides had ewar (Jamgu, Celestii, etc. EE/SYJ appeared to be doing a better job, as BFS ships popped like Orville Reddenbacher whilst their logi losses had subsided and reps were good after losing half the logi group.

Black Flag Society DPS was getting popped at a ship every 7 seconds toward the end, a frightening cadence indeed when the targets were either t2 or t3 resist profiles. The BFS FC was left untouched in an attempt to keep his gang on field as long as possible, and although he gave it a go, after what was probably substantial pressure from USURP and his remaining pilots to GTFO, BFS broke things off and retired, over half their fleet laying strewn about the gate like a yardsale. A Noctis was bridged to clean up the BFS litter, and the tower was saved.
