Finally we get to the battleships!

This class is by far the most healthy of the three and so we aren’t making as many big changes as we did with the frigates and cruisers. We are extending all of the new faction theme elements up to the battleships, which should range from having minimal impact to being a pretty significant buff.

Here’s the details (if you see something that seems really weird, it may be a mistake/typo so just let me know and I’ll check it out):

NIGHTMARE

    Rattlesnake looks good (by the way thats ALL missiles apparently, neat) , Nightmare looks sexy, Vindi… I mean, doesnt look touched. Mach, doesnt really look like they took the nerf bat to it. Slightly higher align time, but increased warp speed. All in all, no complaints. One of the better rebalances. And oooo that Nightmare… Gonna armor tank the FUCK out of that now.

        The Gallente bonus was for 10% per level. At Gal Battleship 5 that is a 50% damage bonus. Now, for 2 drones to do the work of 5, you need a 250% bonus. They eliminated the 50% top bonus and cut the drones down to 2 and put in place a 275% bonus. Do the math… It comes out to a nerf.

            10 (dmg of a drone) * 5 (number of drones) * 150% (dmg multiplier) = 75 dmg
            10 (dmg of a drone) * 2 (number of drones) * 375% (dmg multiplier) = 75 dmg

    snake old: each drone does 10 dam x 5 drones x1.5 (the 50% increase in damage)= 75 each cycle new snake 10 dam X 2 drones X 2.75 (275% increase) = 55 each cycle looks like a nerf (though to be honest the durability makes up for some of that, far less drone management). also lost the velocity bonus which was nice for range not nearly off set by the increase in damage. My opinion gank target (expensive not nearly the return on investment it once was, also easier for newer people to get lured into flying it)

    Properly Fit with Damage mods the Snake will be able to put out 1200 Dps with near no pimp.. And be able to apply it.. Ill take it all day

      No it wont, not after stacking penalty. It will be equivelent to a maxed out Domi. (2 sentries/heavies x 375% = 7.5 drone effective). Same as a Domi which get 10% per leve for a max of 50% or 2.5 additional drones. The Domi also gets a bonus to optimal and tracking which means much better damage application. I’d expect to see 550-600 effective drone DPS plus some missile DPS. Of course missile DPS will really only be effective against BS sized targets as well. In all, DPS fit I’d expect a modest 850-900 applied DPS at close ranges, 750 out to 100KM ish.

      Same thing they did with the Worm and Gila. Massive role bonus increase to durability and damage so that your drones do what they used to do with way less of them. Allows for circumventing the maximum damage cap that the recent drone assist nerf implemented.

            I do think you missed the point of my post. Look at the way CCP is doing things now. We have Team useless space shit giving mobile crap to pave the way for new POS code and laying the framework for that.
            New ship rebalances that started with T1 made their merry way over to T2. If something as drastic as a change as this can be found to significantly reduce server load, while providing players with the gameplay they (want?); it wouldnt be out of the realm of possibility to say that CCP could be looking at moving the changes or expanding them to other ships.

        Many people are making this mistake, so instead of just calling you bad I’m going to explain this so it helps everyone. The Nightmare is getting no direct damage buff. Zero.

        Old Nightmare: 4 launchers x 100% role bonus = 8 launchers. 8 launchers x 1.25 (25% bonus from Caldari BS V) = 10 launchers.

        New Nightmare: 4 launchers x 150% role bonus = 10 launchers.

        The nightmare will however have better damage application in that it gains that extra low slot, and AB replacing MWD means it can fit damage rigs instead of a CCC or an Elutriation.

          The point remains that this is a dumbing down buff to the Mare damage output. Old NM = 10 turrets with BS 5 skills, new NM = 10 turrets without more than minimum reqs to fly the ship.

        Indeed its a massive buff, in incursions (the only real time they are used atm) they will move as fast as they do now with 500% less sig, they will become even more tanky and will piss cap stability.

          this is why the nightmare SHOUDL NOT have been buffed, it just reinforces the meta for incursions (the only place you can consistently see these ships outside solo’ing missions) that you either shield-fleet or gtfo.

        Good points Eric, I was thinking only about PVE since its been so damn rare to see one of these thorny things in a PVP (or forced PVP) situation.

        With the extra low slot, would anyone consider armor tanking this ship in PVE? I have alts in the PL renter corp using Nightmares against drone anom’s. Just considering the available options that will be forthcoming with this “buff”.

          Nightmares were actually a common site for Incursions.

          Other forms of PVE, not so much. But I believe that was moreso due to the fact lasers deal only em therm, rather than an inherent flaw with the ship.

            vs Sansha and Bloods Nightmares are king. You will see them running sites in the dozens down south.

            As for PvP the AB speed can be useful, though only really effective with links and imps imo.

          I agree. Minni ships are meant to be the fastest. Currently they are not. Its kinda like when mtg threw out the color wheel and said “fuck it, let’s make every color have everything” and you wind up with blue direct damage cards and green control cards and white creature removal. It fucks up the theme. Minni ships haven’t been the fastest in a long time though. Their theme now seems to be alpha damage focused.

            ‘Minni ships are meant to be the fastest’ conveniently overlooking the fact that neither the Vindi nor the Mach are ‘Minni’ ships, they are bastardised combinations of 2 races and the only 2 pirate ships that combine the same 2 races. The Mach is currently the fastest ship in a straight line and while I know comparing Eve to RL is just foolish I have generally found that things that go fast in a straight line usually sacrifice manoeuvrability.

            Your complaining about minny racial traits on a non-minny boat, the mach and the vindi are both combination ships so the traditional meta for that race does not apply as it has been combined with another races meta to make the ship in the first place, now please stop being dense.

    those changes are looking fine for me.
    coming from wh-space where money doesn´t matter i saw a lot of faction BS in the fights.
    But i never ever saw a rattle or a NM in pvp.
    they still have a weak shield tank with a point, web and AB/MWD fitting but the rattle gets more dps and the NM gets more cap & 1 low slot instead.

          Don’t forget they are upping the stats on the integrated and other faction drones. An integrated Ogre drone will have the EHP of a very tanky cruiser when launched from a Rattlesnake.
