Late January an eagle eyed individual spotted clues to the possibility of CCP’s latest addition to the New Eden games; Valkyrie a real time high paced and action packed dog fighter, to be free to play with micro-transactions.
The original forum post found in the link above brings attention to a job avert posted on CCP’s website calling for new developers to work on Valkyrie and refers more specifically two of the requirements for the position.
Experience or knowledge of micro-transactions and experience game loops
Ambiguous I know, and even though Eve already has a micro-transaction system of sorts in the form of AUR it is true that generally micro-transactions and Free to play do come as a package.
Another requirement on the job advert worth noting as mentioned in the original forum post is the following.
4+ years’ experience working on AAA quality game titles as a designer (Console experience preferred)
Although aware that Valkyrie is based around the Oculus Rift which so far is only available for PC (as far as we know) could this possibly mean Valkyrie may be seen on a console platform in the not so distant future?
So that’s it folks. This forum post was brought to my attention and I felt it was worth at least keeping an eye on, and we at EN24 will be doing exactly that come Fanfest 2014.
What do you, the readers think?
Do you think that we need to take off our tin foil hats and stop reading so heavily into little things like this? Do you think Valkyrie should be free to play? or do you just think its just another disaster waiting to happen?
Thanks for reading.
