Scamming is an increasingly common profession within EVE Online. Main trading hubs, channels and recruitment channels are highly populated with many of these market bandits (Jita for instance). An average scam can generate around 2bil profit, with this in mind an increasing number of EVE players have dedicated alts designed to relieve other players of their isk.

Today was just like every other day in the ship section of the ingame trade channels. sellers linking their ships in hope of profit, buyers looking for their next ship at a bargain price and of course scammers lurking in the shadows searching for targets. A Character named ABM Rambo was one of these scammers, pretending to sell a fitted bhaalgorn for a good price. A quick look at the contract would make you think, Hey this is worth it but when looking closely at the price you would realise that something is wrong…

ABM Rambo started his usual waiting, linking his fit in channel, Suddenly he was confo’d by Big Lynx after discussing the price he created the contract but instead of the 1bil, 1000bil (1 trillion) was set as price. He linked it in the private chat and then started waiting. Suddently his wallet blinked, He had to look twice but then realised that he did it. He just scammed somebody out of 1 trillion isk!

Image

Like many others he had seen the fit on the Bhaalgorn and thought to make some quick isk. In his excitement he forgot to look at the price of the given contract. As is often the case his greed cost him, he thought he had seen 1 billion ISK but after accepting he realised that the actual price is 1 trillion. One might ask himself how this person had so much ISK in his wallet; according to ABM RAMBO Big Lynx had taken the ISK of the “xXPlease Pandemic Citizens Reloaded Alliance Xx” wallet to make a quick profit. like many victim’s before him he went into panic mode typing: GIMME MY ISK BACK! in the Ship trade channel. Instead of receiving his ISK he received some well deserved trolls for falling for such well known scam.

Once again we learn to take an extra look at the contracts before accepting them.

This was a well executed troll that went viral after it was released. I got informed about this and was very interested. After speaking to AMB Rambo I had all the information I needed to write this article. after about an hour a reddit post went up and we started doubting. Then I got confo’d by one of my sources that confirmed my new suspicions. This 1 Trillion isk scam is a Troll, crafted with photoshop and the Singularity server. so sadly all glitter ain’t no gold.

This troll is like a space version of the Jimmy Kimmel troll that went viral as well.

Do you know about any other well executed trolls then please share them with us in the comment box!

Something about a fool and his money.

  • fishy

Well the part about him takign the money to do it doesnt make sense cause if he knew it wasnt a scam why would he borrow 1 trillion isk lol must be personal if this isnt a setup of some kind for 15mins of fame vOv

    • Dumbledore

Yep, this story stinks. Why would he borrow 1 trillion for a 1 billion ship…

The entmoot that is EN24 trollership calls this bullshit.

      • Herp derp

Indeed a fail grab at fame. Hi AdamiaMaxima/Princess Saskia

    • Glenn

I strongly suspect ABM RAMBO and Big Lynx where both scamming “xXPlease Pandemic….”.
How did ABM Rambo know Big Lynx had a trillion ISK in his wallet (rveyr rare) to be able to overpay if he wasnt in on the scam…
Im sure Big Lynx quietly recieved his share of the haul.

  • bob

Availability : Private. Way to troll tmc.

  • noname

    There is a
very important fact missing in this thread: It is highly likely that it wasn’t
a scam but RMT! CCP can’t proof whether a scam is a scam or RMT.

  • Simon pieman

Blatantly alts are used and false fed to a news website, way to check blatant holes in the pictures, it clearly says the contract is private so….

    • Firefox4312

The contract being private, means that it was issued to the person.

So in other words, you don’t understand how contracts work, and the buy had believed he was getting a bhaalgorn fitted for about 1bn, and instead didn’t read what the isk was when he was issued it, and ended up paying 1000 billion or 1 trillion isk instead.

So, nomad pls, and learn to read and learn about the topic before you comment.

And it’s not an alt since I know both players independently, was going to buy an etana off of lynx, but got a better offer, so I declined.

      • ThisIsATroll

You are as dumb as the author, congrats.

        • Firefox4312

I never said it wasn’t a troll, or anything. I merely said that’s how it would’ve worked and that they’re not alts. So you’re just as* dumb as the guy I replied to.

          • SoDumb

LOL, you tried to give him a lesson on how contracts work when it was clearly irrelevant, how hard is that to understand you mongoloid.

          • Firefox4312

Uhm, it was relevant? He was saying that they were alts. And that it couldn’t have been a scam.

Yet, if you look at the contract, it was made in a way that it worked. If he was spamming the fit in local with something like this “WTS: [fit here]” and someone mailed / convo’d him. He could set up a private contract, and avoid spamming local with one.

I’ve seen fits get spammed many a times in local to sell them, rather than make a contract for some reason.

            So, pls try again.

          • Simon pieman

Look i think you should maybe be quiet, arguing with people on the internet when you are clearly wrong just makes you look silly.

          • sherlockagain!

            simon pieman alt^

            stop talking to yourself dude

      • Simon pieman

So he was spamming a scam contract in a public channel made out to the guy that just happened to bite? coincidence much?

Even before the boring nomad pls (originality is clearly something that escapes you), it still looks suspect, also you know them? or you’ve chatted to them both in this chat? i would be surprised if this was genuine, i would be surprised if these wasn’t alts and this wasn’t a story spun for fools like you.

But clearly what do i know.

        • Firefox4312

You can spam a fit for people to buy, and whoever wants to buy it, you can make a private convo, so it’s less hassle.

That would be how this would’ve worked. Yet that clearly escapes you.

But hey, what do I know?

          • Simon pieman

            Clearly not a lot.

    • sherlockholmes

      hmmm

“ABM Rambo started his usual waiting, linking his fit in channel, Suddenly he was confo’d by Big Lynx after discussing the price he created the contract but instead of the 1bil, 1000bil (1 trillion) was set as price. He linked it in the private chat and then started waiting”

YOU, my misguided troglodyte, are the one looking rather stupid here. the contract was made AFTER contact with his mark was made. Thus alleviating any suspicions regarding its private status.

now, be gone you turd, i am finished with you.

      • jack

story falls apart though when he says he had to pull isk out of a corp wallet to pay for it. First off, who doesn’t have a billion isk that lives in nullsec let alone someone with access to alliance or corp assets, secondly how do you accidentally withdraw one trillion isk from corp assets instead of the billion you need, and then again accept a contract for 1 trillion. as the contract was private, he was in no rush to have a passerby accept it.

  • YoYo

This is RMT pretending to be a scam so that CCP is none the wiser. Goons wrote the instruction manual.

  • Tweety Bird The Nigger
  • DumbAintSpecial

Author of this article clearly got trolled, probably by TMC…gg.

  • Idiot

Did someone get a hold of daddy’s credit card?

  • bla

When something sounds to good to be true it probably is. Whether the contract was too good to be true it obviously is, but something about this story stinks.

  • Billbo

Pics of wallet or GTFO back to TheShittaniDotcom

  • bad writer, worse troll

Anyone in this thread posting he’s an idiot for not checking the contract is a bigger idiot for not checking the contract themselves. The contract in the screen shot above is private, so the “scammer” couldn’t have profited off that by posting it in local even if he spammed it every second for a year.

Once again EN24 reaches way up its ass to pull out this “Newsworthy” gem for a slow Monday afternoon. How about you cram this story back up where you found it riv?

    • herp derp

how about you learn how to read… he was posting in local the FITTING for the ship, he then was convoed and made the damn contract of 1 Tril… READ u noob

  • I chuckle at EN24 stories

If I had a trillion for everytime EN24 got trolled. I could have like 1 bhaalgorn!

  • gsarty5yhhj

    beautiful article

    Well, EN24… http://i.imgur.com/kMj8j8f.gif

It’s all right, we’ve all been trolled before.

  • facepalm

bobmob being a retard as usual

  • Duh

1/10 The trillionaire highrollers ingame have it in investments and assets. No one and I mean NO ONE has 1T liquid sitting in one wallet division. Except Somer..but thats for the mortgage

  • TWEETY BIRD IS A FAGGOT NIGGER
  • OBAMA DID 9/11 TWEETY BIRD NIG
  • hmm

So infact, this post was just a pointless read? Therefore we just got trolled also.. Bah

  • ><a1N

Confirm I was trolled well done.

  • MMM

This is why EN24 is absolute crap.

In the morning I look at TMC and see an article about Dictor fitting changes. Then I look at EN24 featuring an article such as this that is clearly a grab for attention.

At least TMC has fucking useful information. GG Riv, no re.

    • guest

The people still around here prefer the occasional silly troll than canned propaganda every day of the week. Don’t like it? Fine, don’t check this site. Problem solved for you.

      • Inigo Montoya

He referenced an update post on TMC about triple bubble dictors and EHP buffs. How the heck is that canned propaganda you mongoloid sperglord? Don’t white night for low-quality articles…

  • Max Butched

i hope you get cancer and die like the piece of shit you are

    • Derp

Geez, really? The guy runs a fan site at no cost to you and he got trolled. The crime of being trolled is so severe that he deserves cancer and death? Seems a little extreme. Maybe he should stop providing this service and carry out murders instead to get a reduced sentence.

  • lol

can we do a story of how you had to buy your way into NC. now?

i rather say you didnt research it hard enough and released it too early , this side could use a more jounalistic aproach

  • Alhana

    Nice RTM PL.

  • Princess Saskia

    This amused me.

  • Carniflex

If he would have taken that isk from an alliance wallet to make a quick buck he would have taken just 1 bil from there, not 1 trillion.

  • jack

Nice RMT, so he accidentally pulled one trillion isk out of his corps wallet instead of a billion to pay for something that he thought only cost a billion?

  • Master Ochi

EVE SCAMS are an important life lesson. Once you get burned in Eve, you learn to pay attention to contract details.
If you think you are pissed when a gamer scams you in a game, think about getting scammed in real estate or law. Better to lose pixels and learn to be ever skeptical about contracts.
Lawyers, CEO’s and stock brokers, and oh yeah, music industry execs, all will fuck you out of your life savings then go buy a new sports car while your family suffers for years.
Eve scams serve a real purpose.
