At twelve thousand kills and seven hundred losses, Casper24 is what you might call experienced. He’s not the sort to lose a hundred-twenty-billion-ISK Imp to NPC law enforcement in a system rated at 0.8. And though commentators were quick to call autopilot blunder, there had to be more to the story.

Casper24 offered a brief Reddit comment on the loss: “Went through the gate, could not warp, could load chat channels, could load the map, could load my wallet, but for the entirety of the cloaking duration, the game would not let me warp anywhere. Petition submitted. Let’s see if this takes more or less time than getting our AT prizes.” As of twelve minutes after the kill, his pod was still incapable of warping out.

The Imp is a serious boat, an elite Sansha interceptor and one of EVE’s most expensive objects. Originally handed out to the top four teams at Alliance Tournament XIII, Imps have killed over fifteen hundred ships. In an echo to last month’s Fiend kill, this is the third Imp ever lost. Presumably, CCP will replace the ship killmarks and all, like they did with a Caedes recently lost to a different glitch. If so, the kill’s most enduring impact will be the ribbing that Casper24 gets from friends and rivals, now and in brighter days.
