With EVE Vegas kicking off, players will take the stage alongside CCP employees. Since one pilot’s household name may be another’s unknown quantity, EN24 has put together a brief overview of the capsuleer presenters.

Mike Azariah

Presentation: EVE, Goals and Winning

Mike Azariah, a former three-term CSM, spearheads the notorious Operation Magic School Bus, which gives frigates and destroyers to new players engaged in missions. Azariah has signed up as a judge for this year’s Pod and Planet fiction contest. He plans to speak on what ‘endgame’ means for EVE, and why it’s so elusive.

Max Singularity

Presentation: New Eden Physics Class 101

Max Singularity (or, more properly, Maximilian Singularity VI, Pope of New Eden), is fond of wearing formal regalia to EVE conventions. EN24 interviewed His Holiness not long after a well-known incident where The Mittani knelt to kiss the papal ring. If anyone can claim the title of elder statesman of EVE, it’s Singularity. The pontifex maximus will be presenting on the physics of EVE. “Based on a chapter from the Frigates of EVE book, Max will introduce pilots to Power Enhanced Generator (PEG) technology which helps power the vessels of EVE Online.”

Emmaline Fera

Presentation: Leadership Lessons from EVE Online

Emmaline Fera is CEO of the successful wormhole corp Interstellar Expeditionary Group. Her topic of choice is leadership, with an eye to transferable career competencies. “Skills you learn in EVE can translate into real life — and I don’t just mean becoming a spreadsheet guru! In nearly 5 years of flying internet spaceships, I’ve built up valuable leadership skills that allowed me to take on a challenging and intimidating job. Don’t get webbed and scrammed by your career — come learn how you can lead both in-game, and IRL.”

Debes Sparre

Presentation: How to Build Doctrines

Debes Sparre hails from Electus Matari, a roleplay-focused Minmatar alliance. Mr. Sparre brings a wealth of Faction Warfare experience to the table. Elise Randolph is CEO of Habitual Euthanasia, a Pandemic Legion corp. At nineteen thousand ships destroyed and under nine hundred lost, she’s likely the deadliest fighter on the list. “Come along for a guided tour on the process of building doctrines, from small gang to supercaps. With more than 20 years of combined FC experience across all parts of space, Elise Randolph and Debes Sparre will have you fighting better than ever in no time!”

Silicon Buddha

Presentation: Neurohacking: Becoming a Better Pilot through Mind Training

Silicon Buddha flies for Brave Collective; until recently, he was CEO of the EVE corporation Utopia42, which shares a name with his entrepreneurial efforts. “Discover how to re-wire your brain through emerging scientific methods without mysticism to optimize your performance in Eve Online, other video games, and life in general.”

Matterall

Presentation: Continuum of War

Matterall is a longtime fixture of the EVE media scene who wrote dozens of articles for EN24. These days, he’s the voice of the popular Talking in Stations podcast, which averages over fifteen hundred downloads per episode. He’s also the creative director for Imperium News Network. In-game, he flies for Northern Coalition. He’ll be speaking to the evolution of war throughout the last half decade. “This talk will cover strategic shifts, doctrine changes, psychological warfare, and recruitment from the Battle of Asakai to the Titan slaughter of B-R5RB and beyond.”

Eveline Vos

Presentation: Killing in the Name of Bob: A Wormhole PvP Primer

Eveline Vos and Keskora Yaari represent the wormhole PvP corp POS Party, where Ms. Yaari is CEO. “Jump into the great unknown and be ready for anything. In wormhole space it’s survival of the fittest, and everyone is out for blood. With no local, intel channels, or super fleets to rely on, J-space provides some of the most complex and ruthless PvP found in EvE. Come find out what it truly means to live and fight in wormholes and why we keep rolling for more.”

Author’s Thoughts

Vos, Yaari, and Fera come from the exploration and combat sides of wormhole life. Buddha and Azariah are about as close to philanthropists as you can find in New Eden. Matterall is a journalist. Sparre and Randolph are lowsec and nullsec war leader. Azariah and Singularity have left a clear stamp on high-sec. All told, the EVE Vegas capsuleer presenters are just about as diverse as their subject matter and their audience. Clearly, CCP Games aims to give nearly every attendee at least one or two relevant presentations from fellow players. It remains to be seen whether they’ll hit the mark.

Jenne Exupery is a low-wattage independent who dabbles in shipping, salvage, trade, exploration, and nearly victimless heists. He can usually be found bumming around Derelik and Domain under one name or another. Preferred contact method: in-game mail to Jenne Exupery of Manticore-Horizon Shipping [MANHO].
