Tribute: Out of Sight. Destroys a Pandemic Legion Titan in TRKN-L

March 21, 2017

By Salivan Harddin

TRKN-L system, Tribute region. On the 20th of March at 18:31 EVE Standard Time, an Avatar titan belonging to Pandemic Legion [-10.0] was destroyed in the system by forces belonging to Out of Sight. [OOS] and allies.

The chain of events that led to the titan’s destruction started with a prospect of a battle in the region of Venal. Vanguard (VG) coalition had deployed to the region for two reasons: A feud with Guardians of the Galaxy (GotG) coalition in the Deklein region to generate content for both parties, and to suppress Out of Sight. and its allies who continued to be a nuisance for Drone Regions Federation (DRF).

All parties involved formed up for what seemed like a promising fight. However VG quickly discovered it was severely outnumbered and outgunned by GotG and its myriad of allies. With Out of Sight. forming a joint Rattlesnake battleship fleet with Red Menace (RMC) coalition and promising to be a wild card on the battlefield, VG forces chose to stand down. This left Out of Sight. dissatisfied with the fact a major engagement was stolen from it.

It was this fact that ultimately doomed the titan. One of the Out of Sight. fleet commanders chose in the meantime to log in his character in the TRKN-L system. The character had been staking out the system for a good few weeks, flying a stealth bomber equipped with a cynosural beacon to hunt super capitals. The pilot quickly found a titan on his directional scan. After confirming the titan was clearing anomalies, the pilot attempted to find the ship’s exact location without alerting its pilot.

At the same time, the Rattlesnake fleet which was scheduled to stand down was instead rushed to a titan in range of the system with its pilots kept in the dark. Three dreadnought squadrons were hastily organized and moved to a citadel for the drop. The dreadnoughts used the structure to quickly regenerate their capacitor and wait for their jump reactivation timer to expire. With everything finally in place, all that was left was to wait.

The stealth bomber pilot searched for the titan and found it in a combat site. The titan had just used its boson field generator, putting its capacitor levels below the level required for initiating a jump. This in turn meant the ship could not make a quick getaway. This served Out of Sight. well when the stealth bomber uncloaked near the giant ship and lit a cynosural beacon.

The Out of Sight. titan activated its jump portal generator, allowing a wave of interdictors and heavy interdictors through. The ships materialized near the titan and started launching warp disruption probes as well as activating focused warp disruption fields, tackling the behemoth. The titan reacted quickly, blasting the immobile stealth bomber but a secondary cynosural beacon was brought in with the first wave. The secondary beacon allowed the dreadnoughts and Rattlesnakes to jump through. Mobile cynosural inhibitors were deployed to cut the titan from possible reinforcements.

Upon seeing the structure deploying, the titan quickly activated its fitted cynosural module, lighting a beacon while transmitting his distress in alliance channels. Pandemic Legion reacted, pilots logging in and getting in Apostle force auxiliaries and bringing their super carriers and titans to bear. However, due to the alliance being deployed in the Curse region these past weeks, its reaction time was slow.

This allowed the Dreadnoughts and Rattlesnakes to blast the titan who slowly but surely went down to the amassed firepower on the field. By the time the titan was in deep structure, the first Pandemic Legion relief force jumped into the field. A Rorqual industrial capital ship and five Apostles made it to the system, jumping in just as the titan was gasping its dying breaths. The ships were quickly stranded in the anomaly as the titan blew up in front of them. With the mobile cynosural inhibitor deployed on the field the ships could not light their own beacons, dooming them. The Rattlesnake fleet made short work of them before extracting its dreadnoughts and starting the journey home.

Pandemic Legion had finished organizing its own super capital fleet and made it to the neighboring system, but was forced to see the Rattlesnake fleet slip away. With the titan destroyed and its enemies in full retreat, Pandemic Legion opted to stand down, allowing Out of Sight. to reach the safety of the Venal region without further incident.

With the two sides extracting to their respective staging systems, the fight came to a close.
