The Atron is an amazing ship; it is able pwn solo as well as admirably serve roles in small gang and fleet PvP. The variety of functional fittings allow this little baby to function acceptably, if not excel, in almost any situation, given the right fit and pilot.

These are the Atron’s bonuses. Keep in mind when looking at the following fits

Gallente Frigate skill bonus per level:
10% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret falloff
5% bonus to Small Hybrid Turret damage

Role Bonus:
80% reduction in Propulsion Jamming systems activation cost

Solo Null

As versatile as the Atron is, there are essentially only two fits that are viable for solo PvP in nullsec space. The first is the standard MWD blaster Atron:

[Atron, blaster mwd]
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Damage Control II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator

Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S

Small Ancillary Current Router I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I

Stats with this fit:
DPS: 176   EHP: 2566  EHP/s: 69  Velocity: 3904m/s   Cap Life: 37s

The basic goal of this is to spiral towards your enemies as quickly as possible, scram and web then orbit at 2500m with the prop mod off and just burn them down.

The second fit is an MWD rail fit:

[Atron, rail mwd]
Internal Force Field Array I
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator

150mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
150mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
150mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S

Small Ancillary Current Router II
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I

Stats with this fit:
DPS: 119   EHP: 2491  EHP/s: 69  Velocity: 3904m/s   Cap Life: 35s

The basic idea of this fit is to spiral in towards your enemy and orbit right at your antimatter optimal of 10-11km while keeping them scrammed (overheat!) This lets you avoid most damage if the target is fit for brawling. While it doesn’t do anywhere near the damage of the blaster fit, it is able to disengage from a fight with relative ease.

Solo Factional Warfare

While the Atron is out-shined by other T1 ships in factional warfare, such as the Tristan, it is still a very good ship and can handle itself if flown by a competent pilot. Most of the time in FW you will end up fighting Tristans, Worms, Garmurs, T3Ds and other stronger ships. Partake of my wisdom and you might be able to kill them.

The first fit is AB blaster fit:

[Atron, blaster ab]
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Damage Control II

1MN Afterburner II
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator

Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S

Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Anti-Thermic Pump I
Small Anti-Explosive Pump I

Stats with this fit:
DPS: 176   EHP: 2762  EHP/s: 84  Velocity: 1256m/s   Cap Life: 1m25s

The goal here is to do the same as you would with the MWD blaster fit. You are much slower than with a MWD, but also have better resistances and repair more per cycle.

The second fit is an AB rail kite:

[Atron, rail ab]
Damage Control II
Small Ancillary Armor Repairer, Nanite Repair Paste
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II

1MN Afterburner II
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator

125mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
125mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
125mm Railgun II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S

Small Anti-Explosive Pump I
Small Auxiliary Nano Pump I
Small Polycarbon Engine Housing I

Stats with this fit:
DPS: 113   EHP: 2646  EHP/s: 77  Velocity: 1385m/s   Cap Life: 1m21s

The main difference between this fit and the MWD version of this fit is that you can’t fit 150mm rails due to a dearth of powergrid and CPU, but the goal is the same. Spiral in towards your enemies, orbit or manual pilot at 10km while keeping them scrammed and burn them down.

Large Fleet

For large fleet tackle the Atron is in my opinion one of the best ships for this purpose, as well as being the cheapest. With the Atron you can really go either one of two ways, the paper tank max speed fit like BRAVE used so frequently or you can put a decent tank on it and have great overall velocity and agility.

This is the fit I prefer for suicide tackle as it is cheap, has a decent tank, is fast and has decent dps:

[Atron, fleet tackle]
Damage Control II
Overdrive Injector System II
Reinforced Bulkheads II

Limited 1MN Microwarpdrive I
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I
X5 Prototype Engine Enervator

Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S
Light Neutron Blaster II, Caldari Navy Antimatter Charge S

Small Transverse Bulkhead I
Small Auxiliary Thrusters I
Small Transverse Bulkhead I

Stats with this fit:
DPS: 143   EHP: 3566  Velocity: 4425m/s   Cap Life: 60% Stable

The whole purpose of this fit is to essentially be suicide tackle. Unlike the standard tank for Gallente ships, which is armor, on the Atron you can achieve a decent tank without slowing down the ship at all if you tank the hull. This fit is a great tackler overall and can still put out a decent amount of DPS, and overall is a much better ship compared to the paper tank version. Another benefit is that it is also extremely cheap even T2’d at ~4.2mill and with T1 is significantly cheaper.

Overall Review

The Atron is an extremely strong T1 frigate and definitely in my top five T1 frigates. Also, as a side note, any of the fits listed here are work well in small gangs, but obviously use an MWD fit in nullsec.
