CFC Move Fleet Ambushed in Fountain!

May 10, 2015

KVN-36, Fountain. On the 9th of May, 20:00 EST, CFC forces (Re-branded The Imperium) on their way back to the CFC’s main staging in the north, were ambushed by Black Legion. [MEN.]. The force was comprised of 2 Titans, 4 Super Carriers, assortment of Capitals and sub Capitals. The force was extracting from the Fountain region as part of CFC’s consolidation and withdrawal from the south, in preparation for Fozziesov.

[MEN.] have settled in the Fountain region recently, contesting it from HERO Coalition with the aid of Fountain Core residents. They have also been keeping track of CFC movements, and had been on alert for move ops. Though missing one, a spy confirmed a second move op planned for Saturday. [MEN.] then decided to have Interdictor alts ready, as well as assembling a Dreadnought strike force and logging it off in range. With the preparations complete, all that was left to do was wait.

At 20:00, the waiting paid off. The CFC fleet entered KVN-36 and was immediately tackled, with Interdictors bubbling the Supers and Titans. Fountain Core moved to engage the CFC support fleet, while [MEN.] pinged for its pilots to log in, forming the Dreadnought strike force as well as a Tengu fleet and bridging towards the destination.

As more and more Interdictors were rushed to the field to keep the Supers and Titans tackled, the [MEN.] Tengu fleet reached the system, lighting the cyno that ushered in the dreadnoughts. The first primaries were the two Erebus Titans. They came down fast as the damaged poured by no less than 40 Dreadnoughts overwhelmed them.

Then came the turn of the Super Carriers. 2 of the Nyxs were annihilated, one by one, with a Wyvern killed afterwards. All the while Carriers were popped left and right as they attempted to help the Super Carriers to tank.

The CFC had the bad luck of having an incursion in the Cloud Ring region, which did not allow for cynos to be lit, thus making it impossible for their Super Capital fleet to arrive in time to save at least a part of the fleet. Thus, the CFC had to rely on HERO Coalition for assistance (Take note the two are blue to each other only for the purposes of transferring sovereignty):

RAGE PING, TITANS TACKLEDNEED BUBBLESLIMA COMMSEAGLE FLEET FORMING##### SENT BY: Lumpymayo (Brave Collective); TO: online.stratop;

The HERO Coalition Eagle fleet arrived on the scene too late, with only 1 remaining Super Carrier and a few Carriers tackled. By this time the [MEN.] Dreadnoughts were scattered due to bumps from jumping in, making the CFC Aeon too far for some of them. The call was made to evacuate non-insured Dreadnoughts while volunteers stayed behind to try and take the Aeon down. They succeeded but were bubbled by the HERO Coalition fleet.

With most of the Supers and all the Titans dead, [MEN.] extracted from the field, with many of its Dreadnoughts still alive, some freed from HERO Coalition bubbles by their own bombing runs.

The battle report can be found here.

AAR from [MEN.]’s perspective can be found here.

The Fight from [MEN.]’s Dreadnought Perspective

As you can see from the above kills, all the Capitals initially tackled were still in their travel fit when killed. This was done with the pre staged Interdictors mentioned above, as obviously [MEN.] knew that the CFC were going to be moving and thus knew where to be ready for them due to the Phoebe jump mechanic changes. Thus, [MEN.] caught the entire fleet unaware, in its most vulnerable form.

While [MEN.] did lose 9 Dreadnoughts in the process, they killed 450 Billion ISK worth of CFC assets, while sustaining only 50 Billion ISK in return. In other words their killboards are very, very green. It is unknown at the moment how this would have turned out if the majority of the CFC was not away playing H1Z1 while waiting for the “FozzieSov” changes, the revamp of o.o space coming in June. The FC’s that were responsible for this failed move op could be facing dire consequences as our sources have indicated. The Mittani had this to say:

(3:54:00 PM) the_mittani: rushing the convoy last weekend is no excuse for this: http://i.imgur.com/jO8mCXH.png
(3:54:04 PM) blawrf_mctaggart: i’m unfortunately totally disconnected
(3:57:34 PM) blawrf_mctaggart: this fucking infuriates me
(3:57:41 PM) the_mittani: don’t be mad
(3:57:47 PM) blawrf_mctaggart: i’m mad because this is a recurring problem
(3:57:58 PM) the_mittani: one, the losses are nbd, two, it identified a fuckup by relying and trusting someone to coord that shouldn’t be
(3:58:16 PM) blawrf_mctaggart: no matter how many times i try to educate them or have them think logically and take it all in, they continue to fail
(3:58:23 PM) the_mittani: super move ops always require the most exacting intel and support and fc engagement, even if it’s just one bloc fc with a proper guard group this wouldn’t happen
(3:58:36 PM) blawrf_mctaggart: it’s such a gigantic org failure precisely because of that
(3:58:42 PM) blawrf_mctaggart: it was a super move op guarded by 15 harpies and a dominix
(3:59:28 PM) the_mittani: 10 domis! you don’t need logi with 10 domis~
(3:59:39 PM) the_mittani: it’s funny dude, just look at the image and try to see the absurdity of it
(3:59:47 PM) the_mittani: it’s not even a ‘bad harpy fleet’ which is what i thought it was at first
(3:59:51 PM) blawrf_mctaggart: i saw the absurdity the first few times this happened
(3:59:54 PM) the_mittani: it’s a diceroll randomized assortment of hulls
(3:59:59 PM) the_mittani: i’ve never seen this before dude
(3:59:59 PM) blawrf_mctaggart: just sick of the moment i leave the roost, they start to shit on eachother
(4:00:02 PM) the_mittani: this is special
(4:00:05 PM) the_mittani: like
(4:00:22 PM) the_mittani: this is a unique moment, i’ve never seen supers escorted with a ‘fleet’ like this
(4:04:09 PM) the_mittani: so look, the reason why i’m just like ‘what’ on this is that a normal org failure will be something like a shitty harpy fleet doing this – this is exceptional because even our lowest-tier skirmish fcs simply do not undock a fleet like this ‘escort’ fleet even for their roams, without supers or even carriers
(4:05:31 PM) the_mittani: when complex systems break down normally there’s a whole rash of issues, not just one, so here we have
*no gia linkup
*no oversight from usually aware folks (and there are teams of people who could have noticed this, but didn’t
*low-skill subcap fc

The really big !!!!! is all of the above + the ‘fleet’ was literally not even a fleet by the most basic standards of our org across the coalition even at the lowest level

With the CFC now calling itself the Imperium, it is not too much to hope for heads to roll as the emperor shows his displeasure.
